Steve Vai. Arguably the best rock guitarist on the planet. Bassist Billy Sheehan is ungodly, and guitarist/keyboardist Tony MacAlpine is almost as good as Vai. This is a must see Show.
Steve Vai playing Ingolstadt this time, 2nd July.

I might just be tempted to go all the way to Ingolstadt for this. This guy is amazing live.

I love this guy!! He is a world class guitar player. Is any one interested in a car pool ---- convoy---- effort? I've never seen him, but this is a must see I'm sure. Oh!! Yeah... Were do you think I got my T.T. name?... Hee Hee ;-)

According to the
Steve Vai web site (scroll down to the section in green text), Billy Sheehan and Tony MacAlpine won't be on this tour:

this is may be a good opportunity to try something a little different. Tony and Billy won't be joining me on this run - but they are actually doing a project together and you won't want to miss them when they tour Europe in October!
So, since there is no studio album with a firm band that I'm touring on, anything goes. I'm thinking of having a violin player in the band that can understand how to play like a violin player but still rip it up when necessary. Imagine some of those guitar lines doubled with a violin. That's pretty strung up!
Sounds like it will be interesting all the same.

It looks like he might even record some songs from the tour for a new album. He also writes ...
"Okay then, new tour, new band, new music and a new live recording, and you're all invited! And I am going to request that this tour is an "All Ages" event in every city. I'm hoping this will be possible. " That's it for me. .. I'm proud to say my sons first concert just might be a S. Vai show.

Hmm... let's see how my knee heals up, if it's good by then i might go.
Went in Okt 2005 in Munich. Concert was great, but i was a little amused by the fan below the stage that blew his hair in an angelic halo the whole show ;-)

Well, I've got my ticket now for Ingolstadt. I don't see anything on the
Vai web site about Augsburg, but he will be in Ulm on July 3rd.
I was also at the 2005 gig in Munich. Is fan a regular feature of his concerts? I think I've seen various photos where his hair looks as if it's being blown about. I imagine it serves two purposes: gives a dynamic effect to the stage show, and keeps him cool. Neat idea.

got my ticket

RE: the fan - from the last gig I went to, it also seemed to do a good job in keeping his hair-do out of his face!

Is anyone planning to drive from the Munich area to Ingolstadt, and drive back the same night after the concert? I was thinking of going by train, staying overnight, and having a lazy day in Ingolstadt the next day, but I just realised I ought to be back in Munich the day after, so I'd be interested in a car pool.
