I'm a happy prescribee for the treatment of adult
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder in CN and looking to get another prescription here. Do any of you know if Germany is as progressive as the US/Canada in terms of what drugs are available?
I'd also like to intercept those who don't understand ADHD before they post. It is over-diagnosed and over-treated but that doesn't mean it isn't real. ADHD isn't just being lazy.

Ritalin is available, Adderral isn't. Whether you'll get a doctor to prescribe for adult ADHD is another thing, that I don't know.

My 10 year old is on Ritalin so it is most certainly prescribed over here. It works. We don't like it - but it seems to work.

Yes you can get a doctor to prescribe for adult ADHD. Not everyone will do it tho, since it is not yet legal for adults. There is some legal stuff around it, but he can do it if he wants to.
BTW, Methylpheni-Dat is the same as ritalin, and its a lot cheaper.

I think doctors do prescribe it (methylphenidat/ritalin), but unless you were diagnosed as a child, public
health insurance does not cover it.

That depends on the doctor, I know of an adult that was only recently diagnosed and whose prescription is covered by the standard health nsurance. This however is rare.

Hi, I read the previous post and links (that were in English), but my question is: Have you EVER heard of anyone being able to locate Adderall in Germany? I mean in the proper way... not as a street drug.
Although I am now an adult, I'm still in my studies, and therefore require medication for ADD. I'm not too worried about finding a doctor to prescribe it, given my circumstances, but is it even an option? Is it considered illegally in *all* circumstances? Or just highly regulated?
Please, don't bother suggesting alternate medications..I know of these options, and have tried them, with little success..
Another question: How much would a month's supply of Ritalin (or its generic, methyphenidate) cost in germany, without insurance? Ballpark Range... 20 euros? 200?
Thanks.

You can go to any Apotheke and asked them the cost of Methylphenidate (Ritalin) and they will give the cost to you. You don't have to have a prescription to get an answer to this question at the Apotheke.
I've only known Methlyphenidate (Ritalin) to be prescribed in Germany. However, when you go to the Apotheke you can asked them do they have Amphetamine-dextroamphetamine (Adderall) in their formulary and if they don't you can ask them if it's possible for them to order it for you.

Know for a fact (1 year ago), you could NOT get Adderall in Germany. One of my students was on it, and the mother was trying to get it through the American Consulate and the doctor there. No idea the cost for any of these drugs.
Good luck with things and hope you find something helpful to you.

Actually, it is possible, it's just very difficult. Because it costs hundreds of euros for the pill form, my doctor writes a special recipe for a liquid solution, which the pharmacy then makes.

I have a son aged 12 diagnosed in USA with ADHD and he takes Adderal. Anyone know if this med is available in Germany and do I have to go through complete testing and everything again?
He has been on it for about 5 years.
