If your child is born here (Munich) does it get a german passport or do you need an indian one?

I'd assume that if the father is Indian then the child will have an Indian passport (though don't quote me on this).
Wouldn't the Indian consulate be better able to answer this?
The child might not be getting a German Pssport as the child needs to live here for atrleast 8 yrs to obtain one

You will be getting an Indian Passport only.
For the indian passport, usually the maximum time is 2 weeks though they could be sweet talked to give it to you earlier. For the German Visa, am not sure how that works...a trip to the KVR is in order me thinks.

First you need to collect the Birth Certificate from KVR. You can apply for the birth certificate from the hospital itself, but will need to collect it from KVR, it may take up to one week from birth date. With the birth certificate, you need to apply for the passport at Indian Consulate in Munich. Issue of passport takes less than a week.
Then you need to go to Auslanderbehorde to get visa stamping for the child. The newborn will get a visa for the same time period as parents. This is a 15 minute process.
