Seriously, I promise I do other things than run...

There's a 10K run on Sept 12 at 2pm in the Englischer Garten that will benefit the local fight against AIDS. The minimum donation is 15 euros and you get a t-shirt, which is in line with most other 10Ks.

Info here: runforlife, in German. PM me if you need help b/c I'll be doing this with our company team. It says walkers are welcome so don't worry if you haven't trained.

Nice to do something for a good cause & get a little exercise at the same time before Oktoberfest!

3 Lions
This will probably near kill me, but I'm up for this. Did I say probably...I mean definitely!!! It's for a good cause.

Anyone else?
Showem
Not in town, sorry.
chewy
How big is the beer and pizza at the end? Could definately be tempted thu
canuck
I would run this believe me...but I'm hopefully running the Jungfrau marathon on Sept 11th (the day before). I'm planning to sleep the entire next week after the marathon...Sorry I'm lazy! tongue.gif
Elfenstar
let's do it!. i'm in. where's the sign-up sheet?
satish
Count me in too! Where do I register?
Val
oh thanks- this looks great- I just had to cancel my registration for the NY Marathon- I was going to run it for the first time this year- ran a slew of races last year to qualify but now I have a job in TX at that time and am SO BUMMED-happy for work that is- bummed about race- lets do it- we should plan a TT meet time with breakfast after!? did anyone watch the triathalon/Olympics? what a gorgeous run!
Val
wait- did i say breakfast? i meant beer
sunny_me
would love to join.
The only thing is that I hav to work each sunday (and it is a sunday I think) in a beergarden. But I'll see if I can cancel that one.
Anybody interested in a "practise" run? I often go for a run in the Olypark but it's so boring when u are just on your own. ... (BUT... I am not a very fast runner sad.gif )
would also be a good chance to get to know any of you, as I am quite new to TT...
3 Lions
OK, Lisa E, you've started something here.

Me
Chewy
elfenstar
Satman
Val
Sunny Me
Sparty (No Backing out now mate)
Bubble Gum (You either young lady)

As for practise runs, I have never done 1K nevermind 10K, so a practise run may be needed sometime before then.
Lisa E
Very cool all!

Some of you have been asking about the registration. Unfortunately it looks like they don't have an online form so you either have to register in person here:

- "Max & Milian", Ickstattstraße 2 or
- Schalterhalle der "Abendzeitung", Sendlingerstraße 8

Or make a deposit to Konto 47 47 42, BLZ 701 500 00, München Stadtsparkasse under the name Münchner AIDS-Hilfe with "run for life" in the intention line.

You can also register on the day of at the race but they won't guarantee you a t-shirt.

Personally I would go to one of the locations & do it in person so you can get more details.

About the training runs 3lions, well, 2 weeks is really not enough to train properly if you aren't currently running and maybe is is better to go in with fresh legs & a good attitude! But, do make sure that your shoes are OK. I am sure you will do fine & good for you for doing it!
jxn
Hm I will see what my schedule looks like and if I will be in Munich I will go sign up. Should be fun, and it's for a good cause. Are we meeting up before and/or after the run?
satish
Who's up for a practice run this week in the Olympia park? Suggest after work on Tuesday (tomorrow)?
sunny_me
I'd be up for it...if u don't mind running next to me at a snail's pace...!!!
No, reeeeally...am not a very fast runner...
satish
Okay. Meet at the main entrance to the Olympiaschwimmhalle at 7pm?
Lisa E
Looks like they have added some more locations where you can register now.

Would love to meet you all for some a slow run today but I'm already obligated to train with my coworkers. After this is done though, I would love to find some running buddies b/c I'll be going for a half marathon.
sunny_me
okay! see u at seven !
ellewood
do u need to sign up to take part in this run or can u just turn up? anyone know? cheers!
tench
@Miss Ellewood..

sparty
Who's up for a bit of training today? I don't really mind where to go, but Englischer Garten should be nice...
sunny_me
at what time?
Val
who's up for a practice run this week- mon nite maybe? englisher garten?
@3 Lions- I heard a nasty rumor you might not be running- say it t'aint so!?
Val
Actually I cant do monday- another nite this week?
3 Lions
@Val

Where did you hear this? dry.gif

I will be running, or making a very poor attempt at it. I have been in scotland the last week and I fly to the UK tomorrow, so unfortunately very little time to do any training sad.gif
Val
@3 lions-great ! looking forward to it- we should all plan to meet before- when we still look good
Lisa E
hmmm, just went to the regenbogen apotheke to register. they didn't have t-shirts for pickup, so i have to take my receipt to the race start if i want to get one. kind of defeats the purpose of pre-registration! but it's all very informal anyway, no numbers or anything.

oh well, the forecast looks great for sunday!
satish
Off to register after work... hope i get a t-shirt!

Shall we arrange a meeting time/place for Sunday. Where's the starting point anyway?

I'm not gonna get any training runs in beforehand :-(
Elfenstar
LisaE, I registered online, meaning I just transferred them the money and I also have no confirmation of it, but they mailed me and said show up at 1 o'clock and they'll have my name on a list. I could care less bout the t-shirt.
I think I can jog a good hour at a slow tempo. That's not 10k though, but who cares if I have to walk at the end. It'll be a nice day.
Elfenstar
afraid i won't be online tomorrow or the weekend. any meeting place or time for the 10k? still no idea if i get a t-shirt, so i suppose i should bring someting to wear.
too bad bob doesn't sponsor us with any TT caps or whatever. that would be free advertising.
canuck
I'm doing this run, since I'm wimping out of the marathon this weekend. I'll register today.

The starting point seems to be Haus der Kunst (near P1). We could meetup near the entrance to P1 (which is just behind Haus der Kaunst, facing the Englischer Garten)?
sparty
What about a bit of running tonight??
canuck
Can't tonight sorry. Busy doing better training...drinking Mohitos. I still love that Sex with a Bitch drink...Mmmm Yummy.
satish
Meeting point, entrance to P1 then. What time?
Elfenstar
uh canuck, you mean sex on the beach? or a long, hard screw up against the wall? maybe a blow job? unsure.gif

p.s. what time are we meeting? gotta by there at 1 to get a t-shirt.
canuck
@Elfenstar: The hard screw up against the wall that I had last night, was the best one I've had in years...you reminded me... rolleyes.gif
Elfenstar
ohmy.gif canuck! laugh.gif
Val
@ Canuck- yes lets all meet there- 1:30 ?
next to P1 or Haus der Kunst?
Elfenstar
P1 @ 1.30 then. see y'all then.
3 Lions
Looking forward to this.

If I pass out an any time, please carry me over the finish line and drop me off in GM's for the Spurs v Norwich Game @ 5pm. Jimbo will make sure I'm ok tongue.gif
3 Lions
Where is P1 btw?

Myself & Sunny Me finished the 10K in about 1hr 10min.

Special Thanks go to...

Lisa E for posting this event.

Sunny Me, I dont think I would have finished the 10K on my own.

Gideon for giving me a few good pointers.

Not bad for doing absolutely no training whatsoever wink.gif As for my future running career, well as long as its for charity, I'll do it, its the only reason I did this run rolleyes.gif
3 Lions
And congrats to everyone who ran today.

Just one question, when you guys go for these training runs, how far do you normally run?

Not that I'm interested tongue.gif
gideon
well done mate!!!
sparty
Yes, thanks to Lisa E for bringing it to attention! It was a great run. A bit of rain, but that made it refreshing.

PS: My time was 57m35s which I am very happy with! smile.gif
canuck
Congrats to everybody who finished! (and even to those who took short cuts!!----DW) The weather wasn't the best, but we made the most out of it. Good run, good organization. Thanks Lisa!
satish
Thanks again to Lisa for initiating the run... And well done to everyone!! My feet are killing me today though!
3 Lions
Feet!! Nevermind my feet, I am walking like John Wayne today!!
Lisa E
Good group, everyone did a great job! I think I would have been feeling fine today if I hadn't overdone it celebrating in the evening.

So who's in for a long run (or part of one) on Thurs eve? It's gotta happen before this weekend with Oktoberfest starting!
