Not so new to Munich, but new to TT

Anyone interested in meeting up with us parents?

Found this forum a while ago... wanted to say "hello". I am a native German (actually from Munich) and moved back from the UK with my two half-English kids (8 and 5) about 18 months ago. We live in Unterhaching nearby Munich and miss not having more English-speaking company and/or friends here. Anyone interested in getting to know us / meeting up with us some time? Looking forward to your messages.

There are lots of Toytown meetups, for example:

- Monday Pub Quiz at the Arc
- Tuesday Drinks at varying locations
- Wednesday Curry
- Thursday German speaking Stammtisch (although you were looking for talking more German...)
- Friday...weekend...always something going on
- Saturday...same thing
- Sunday Chill-out at varying locations

Just pick your day...there's pretty much always something smile.gif

EDIT: Full coverage on the calendar

there are also some playgroup meet ups for moms and tots, just keep watching the meet up threads, and your circle of friends will expand.
Welcome to TT.

Hello all, txs for your input. The TT events calender and playgroups are not too helpfule though - my children are 8 and 5 and not really interested in babbling crawlies ,-) sorry. Any other ideas?

I know the feeling. I have an eight year old son also. It makes it nearly impossible to attend any evening events & of course I am past a "new mum" type group. Maybe we could do a meet-up at a biergarten or park/picnic type event?
ian
Yes I think the beergardens are the answer for the summer. But you'll have to synchronise with kids of a similar age. Otherwise they'll get bored.
Perhaps its time to start a new TT regular event!

hi starlight and ian - txs for your sensible replies. The idea of a new TT group is fab. So here's a suggestion. How about meeting up in a beergarden either this Sunday or in two weeks time, ie weekend of 28 April - 1 May. Afternoon let's say about 3:30 pm. Any suggestion for location? Look forward to your reply here or a PM

This Sunday would be great! Which biergarten has the best spielplatz? I am up for any except for Chinesischer Turm (too busy). I tend to be partial to Hirschau since they installed new play equipment last summer. However, I could use a change of scenery!

There is one just outside of Munich in Oberhaching called Kugleralm. Great play area! Is that any good? Actually two weeks from now would suit me better. Is that oK?

Itmay be worth you considering the Hofbraukeller on Wienerplatz, they have a watched kindergarten both inside and outside.

I love the Hofbraukeller, but the children's area seems to be very directed toward smaller children. I just looked at the website www.kugleralm.de & it looks fabulous. It would be great to get out of the city for an afternoon & only a 15 minute walk from S-bahn! So on April 29th?
ukmama
Yes, let's meet up on Sunday 29th April, 3:00 pm at Kugler Alm, main entrance. For anyone who wants to join later, we'll choose a table towards the play area and put a little UK flag on the table. In case it rains, let's postpone to Tuesday, 1st May (bank holiday), same place, same time. Looking forward to seeing you there.

PS: it might be nice to know beforehand who's coming :-)
