Not to rain on anyone's parade, but if you are organizing a big group to
Andechs, you should know that the s-bahn only goes to Gaemering now where you have to catch a bus to Herrsching. Takes much longer. They are doing repairs on the tracks.
yup, Schienenersatzverkehr (aka bus) between Germering-Unterpfaffenhofen und Herrsching during the weekends, it will take about 45 min for this part of the trip (I made it last weekend in the other direction)
Oh, and the
MVV information on-site about the whole thing sucks - at always, grrrrr

When you get off the s-banana at Germering don't hang about. The bus stop is just across the road but there's a bit of a mill for seats on the bus and you might end up having to wait for the next one if it's full.

Would love to go too but I'm afraid they might have wanted posters with my mug shot on them out there.

Ah, Jack don't worry, it will be sunny, so bring some sunglasses and nobody will recognize you.
Looks like could be a small group going tomorrow, the weather looks good. Anybody else wanna join?

its such nice weather, and the thought of having to sit on the bus is not making the trip appealing to me, so, I am going to pull out.

my thoughts exactly. I'd rather spend those hours of travelling in a Munich beergarden. I think I'll pass on this one too and wait till the S-bahn is running again.

If you want to wait till the S-Bahn is running, then your going to have to wait another month.

Isnt there a regular bus route from
Starnberg, or one of the stops previous to that? So take the S6 out and get a much shorter bus ride to
Andechs. I think though the bus drops you off at Andechs, which means missing out on the walk, which is all part of the fun, you have to work for that first Maß.

There is, and the Sched. is above, however that route starts at 1230, and only runs every few hours. Great if you can get it
not so convient otherwise. But it does beat the other way..

What it will mean though, is those brave enough to chance the
Andechs trip, there is likely to be slightly more seats available. The replacement bus is schedule to run with the S-Bahn, so its just a change, although sitting on a bus for a little while is not so appealing.

I actually rather enjoyed the bus ride last weekend. It's a bit hot on board, but you travel through some really beautiful little villages, and past some lovely fields covered in wildflowers.
I wouldn't let the prospect of having to take the bus put you off the trip altogether.
