Sneak preview movie at the Grindel

So Monday April 9 is a holiday...
Who wants to meet up at the Grindel for the regular monday night sneak preview at 20.15?

Was at Grindel last night - Music and Lyrics - so will skil this Monday. Perhaps next outing then! (Only 4,50 EUR on Mondays & Tuesdays, and 5 EUR for Sneak Preview!)

So were we. Was surprised how full it was for a Friday. Nice to see that.

They also now have live music on Friday and Saturdays in the downstairs lounge bar.

Might be there on Monday too.

just came back from the sneak preview and it was fun. sort of a regular crowd thing, a fun atmosphere.
they showed lots of previews, old and new, and threw bags of chips into the crowd before the show.
the preshow lasted about 45 minutes, so if you go don't worry about being on time.

they showed 'Shooter' with Marky Mark.
unbelievable?...sure. entertaining?...sure. and only €5!

Whats the difference between monday nights and the english showings every other night at the Grindel?

monday is the sneak preview of a soon-to-be-released movie... so you don't know what it's going to be, and it's only 5€... so you can leave if it sucks.

it's kind of a regular crowd thing, there's a little show before hand, lots of previews, they throw out bags of chips, and the audience gets a bit involved in the movie. it's a fun atmosphere.

they throw chips at you? Like, french-fries or gambling chips?

no, bags of chips, the potato kind...

I wouldn't mind going, hell the concept of being able to buy beer at the theaters is still a novelty for me..

OK so I still need to eat before I come as they just serve light snacks then...

so it sounds like 3 so far... we could meet at the theater at 7:45, buy the tickets then grab a beer next door.

My partner Michaela & I will be in Hamburg in 3 weeks, and definitely anticipate visiting the Grindel at least once a week (bless her - she's lived in England for nine years and is very keen to establish friendships with Brits - she's more concerned even than I am about missing the 'hello my darling!' approach and informal attitude here. in my experience of ex-pat Germans in the UK there is a certain type of German who can't abide the relatively serious and cool attitude they culturally seem to adopt)...so look out for us!
ps is the preview night just trailers?
pps live music too sounds great - i'm looking to do some acoustic type shows in Hamburg of my own songs - do you reckon I should have a chat with 'the management'??

i am still planning on coming, but won't be able to make it at 7:45, more like 8:30 or so. since you can't reserve tickets ahead of time, i'm going to head to the grindel now and buy two tickets for me and my friend. so, drink afterwards?

We'd like to go, but I usually have class on Mondays from 7:15 to 8:15. What time does it start?

The previews start about 8.15 and the movie starts at 9.

I will be in hamburg monday the 7th. If there is somthing going on or people want to meet up i would join and stay the night if not then i am just driving up and back

Were you all aware that the Grindel Kino has closed? Too bad, I think it was the only kino showing films in English. Guess it just wasn't making money.
