Im thinking about taking some German classes in Regensburg for about 6 weeks in september at a school called Horizonte.
Wondering if anybodys gone there and could tell me any praises or complaints.
They offer accomidation and the prices seem right so any and all comments welcomed.

Hi,
Yes I know a couple people there now. The classes are small and they enjoy the teachers. No complaints. I am at a different language school... at the Volkshochschule, the classes here are cheaper but the classes are larger and there is no accommodation.
Hope this helps,
Leigh

I attended Horizonte for 6 months and can highly recommend it. Small classes, great teachers, nice building right in the city center...MUCH BETTER than the Volkhochschule. Of course, it is more expensive, but worth it, in my opinion. PM me if you need more details.
And by the way, Regensburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany...nice choice!

I can recommend it as well although my time there wasn't soo positive in the German learning aspect a lot of people's were. I had a bad teacher who I hear through grapevine has subsequently left. The only thing I would say is learn as much German before you attend this school, because the higher classes tend to be better classes. The thing about this school is you will get out of it what you put in.
word to the wise: although irish pubs are fun limit your time in them. You cannot learn german in Murphies or the Irish Harp.
edit: Regensburg is lovely I went there on a whim after finding horizonte on the internet and ended up staying in germany. You will fall in love with this town.

Horizonte's where I got my start in Germany. Recommended. I miss living in Regensburg terribly.

also highly recommend it. great school to get a kick-start, or fine tune your advanced german. A couple notes for you:
- the degree of "seriousness" of the students there will greatly vary session to session. it's a bit of a roll of the dice between party time vs study time in the school provided housing.
- Regensburg is picturesque. bring a camera.
- in class you will learn proper german. on the street, you will hear the local dialect - expect to not understand it.
- in summer, the students are mostly university students on a summer extra credit course, typically the biggest group will be Spaniards.
- All the teachers are very good - but general concensus is that Gabi is the best teacher. but you will have little control over which teacher you will have.
