Ok, so my key broke off in the lock. tried WD40 and tapping it out, tried turning with a screwdriver...
no luck.
I bought the bike 2nd hand from a store, so i don't think I'll be able to show proof of ownership.
SO... i need to cut the lock, an arbus with security level 4(?) i think...not toooo difficult a job...
does anyone have a large bolt cutter or somthing similar that i could borrow?

it's not a U-lock, it's a normal key.

I've got a hacksaw... I'm in Wellingsbuettel if you want to use it?

Is the bike chained to anything? If not, just carry it to the nearest nike shop and ask to borrow some cutters. I've done this before without having to show proof of ownership and not had a problem.

3 Lions, how will running shoes help?
If the cutters don't work there may be some running involved.

Maybe the bike is tied up with shoelaces.
Not so long ago we had a bike cable around one of the children's bikes and the key was lost. First
I knew was that my wife (Dipl. Ing. I have you know) came up and offered me my (broken) fine
electrical wire cutter saying that it didnt cut through a bike security cable. *bangsheadonfloor*
My enquiry as to what good a bike cable was if simple fine wire cutters went through it were lost...
I think the key was found a few days later...

Just use a hacksaw. I had to do that once. I knew that if I didn't use the hacksaw and just waited for the key to turn up, it never would. So I sawed through it- a genuine Kryptonite. Found the key the next day. DOH!
