I saw a picture of a woman that I recognise from a poster in Munich and it's driving me crazy to figure out who she is.
She is of Indian descent, middle-aged, is a bit stocky judging by her face and has a really big bindi (red dot) on her forehead. I've seen the advertising posters in
Marienplatz, but never really read them. Now that I've seen another photo of her, I'm curious as to who she is, or at least what's on that poster that I saw. Does anyone know who I mean, or the poster I mean?

Could be the Adverts for Aida playing at the Deutsche Theater.

No, it's not a recent advert, but a long-term advert. It might be something to do with a meditation centre or something, I don't know for certain. As I said, I never really read it properly.

Yeah, I know the poster you mean but I haven't seen it for a while.

Well at least we've established I'm not insane, (on this account at least), there is or was such a poster.

I think you were refering to Mata Amritanandamayi.

yeah must me Amritanandamayi. She is here every year to visit her followers (fans?), I guess. Quite famous for her motherly hug.
Note: I am not a follower either, she is from my place though.

Hmm, it's close, but not the woman I'm thinking of. I think she had a more pointy chin than Amritanandamayi. Thanks for the suggestion though, she is close.

I do like her Motto:

Sounds more like the mantra of Ninjas than that of the 'Unversal Motherhood' tho.

hi there,
dont know how this rather late piece of info might help, but i think i know who this woman is you are talking about...
its most likely "Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi" and she runs the "Sahaja Yoga" group. Am personally not into it but their web address is :

Looks like she aint one of those famous folks...!..and i m not into that too and dont believe every1 although i ve a philosophical bent of mind @times when i m down..hehe..! well, you cant really believe each and everyone like that from india (no offence meant) cause there are loadsa people doint that stuff...but on the flip side, there are people who are good, do good and serve the needy..and some people are really amazing..! But i guess the real ones dont really look for publicity and indeed, i guess some of those good folks are out there in the remote areas of himalayas, meditating and doing other deeds and some people are serving the needy at their best...! Amruthandamayi, looks the same with a big red dot and she s known to be the hugging-God and i heard that she heals by her hugs..! she s from kerala state in india, which s called "God s own country"...Its a bit hyped, but its indeed a very gud n beautiful place, worth a visit...! :-)

She hugs, not sure about any healing. In that case she wouldn't be running this

Yes, Kerala is well worth a visit, especially out of season. Renting a boat on the backwaters is a great plan, there are loads of boats to choose from, and we paid Rs3500 (about 70 euro) for 24 hours with all food included with chef and navigator. There's lot's of other stuff to do, the internet is your friend...
