I've heard that the Salt Mines in the Obersalzberg area are definitely worth a visit.
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting there without a car? Or are there any tours that go there from Munich?
Thanks in adv.

Go to Salzburg, spend a night, take a tour from there...I believe they're around 5 hours from Mozart platz to the mine and back. From Munich, it's just too far for any tour company to do trips...
We do Salzburg day trips, and even that is stretching it.
here is some info in english. it tells you how to get there.

There are two salt mines: the one in Berchtesgaden and the one in Dürrnberg near Salzburg. Their respective websites tell you how to get there. Use the Bayern Ticket to get as far as Salzburg or Berchtesgaden. Timewise, it is possible to do either as a daytrip, but there is enough to do in the region to warrant a long weekend.

I went there in 1985 with my then girlfriend (now wife) on our first holiday together. Worth the visit - we kept saying we'd take the children but have never done so (it is at the other end of the country for us).
