hi everyone,

I'm new to Hamburg and have just picked up a copy of

a new English resident's guide for Hamburg. I thought it might also be helpful for other newcomers. Its a fun read and seems to have loads of useful information.

Its called get local - Hamburg.

I bought my copy at Thalia in the Europa Passage in Hamburg.

You can get more info on their website: www.getlocal.eu.com

Thanks,

JP

Just like to point out that Hamburg has had a very good local guide for a number of years. It is called Neustädter and is in German. It has a lot of practical advice and the city is broken down into neighbourhoods for apartment hunting, nightlife, etc. If you get on their mailing list www.neustaedter.de they occasionally offer deals on entertainment, courses etc. Kindy quirky: the cover has a fish wearing a captain's hat. Fits in your pocket anyway. The book, I mean.

Yes, I have seen this guide. If I understood German I think this guide would be very useful but I don't understand German yet.
The get local guide is written in English, and is also pocket size. So far it has helped me a lot.
Thank goodness something like this exists for the non-german speaking newcomers!
