Hi guys,
i see lots of things in the meet ups section that sound like alot of fun, and at the moment im really lacking the friends dept, so could certainly do with going along to alot of the events, but im just not so sure where to start, i feel a bit silly going along on my own, especially if alot of the other people have already met, so if anyone else is in the same boat please let me know as i would love to meet up with some people, and start enjoying a bit of life in munich.
Thanks and sorry for sounding so pathetic lol.

And anyway most people will be running from Ruthie.

sometimes things like the tuesday drinks or wed
curry night are a great way to get to know people at a smaller venue, and are alittle more intimate as opposed to a huge open event.
Most of attended an event alone at one point, and had to meet new people.
Welcome to TT.

Good grief young lady, you are British , so chin up and over the top, I tell we would never had defeated the Boche if I had sat around thinking " I´m all alone " would we have now.
Thats the stuff, off you go then .

Most people go alone, and there seems to be a different crowd every week. The group is totally friendly and are always happy to see new places. I felt immediately at home and at ease.
Just don´t forget to stand in the corner hopping. (see the page on meet-ups and the instructions on how to find the TT crowd).
Come along to the Tuesday drink tomorrow!

Ahhh.. It's not that bad. Many others do it too. Besides, you only have to do it once. Then you will know more people and it won't feel so bad the 2nd time.

Oh yes, that´s right, don´t forget to wear a tin hat, as that apparently wards me off

There's always new people joining the different meetups, don't feel silly about showing on your own. It's perfectly good. Just choose the event that you think could be nicer for you and sign up. If you like to go to the pub and meet a lot of different people then you could join the TT Tuesdays tomorrow, if you are more on the "let's sit and chat and have a drink or two" side of things then you could go to the
curry night on wednesday. If you like
pub quizes (sp?) you could go next monday to
the Arc. If you want to get massively drunk go to the Arc party on saturday, that one looks like a lot of good fun. So just make your pick and show up. We are a friendly group of clowns who will try to make you feel welcomed.

Man, totally don't worry about going to meet ups alone, people are well friendly, and you won't be alone after about 1 second. Granted, that "not being alone" might actually involve being with some complete nutter with a massive german shepherd dog, who smells a bit of stale beer, and is enthusiastically talking about sardinian cheese, but alone you won't be.
Edit: just saw the thread title. w00t lol l33t

The way you put that, either you got lucky that night or people were really trying to get rid of you...

Rubbish excuse. Almost all TT events are organised with a closeness to an alcohol source im mind. so you can drink which allows you to:
1 Pretend you are a health inspector and leave suddenly when you realise that the dog really is talking about Sardinian cheese.
2 Drink yourself into a state of charming inebriation by which time either everybody is your friend or your enemy.
3 Gives you a place to laugh into when you realise almost everybody at a TT night out is bonkers but in a good way.
4 Laughing while drinking beer can produce a nasal beer fountain effect, a perfect ice-breaker. You wouldn't believe how popular pretending to be a fire extinguisher can make you.
5 If you don't like the look of any of the TT crowd you can still drink, on your own, and have conversations with Frederic, your invisible but voluble non-TT friend.

Does that really work?

Beer is only one of the possibilities
