I am getting married To a US citizen next month. Then she is coming to Germany. I have heard that i don“t need to pay so much tax if she is not working. How much less Tax will i have to pay.

Do i need to register the marriage here ?? Can she have a US passport and a British passport (I am British). How long will it take her to apply for Germany residency.

You posted about East German women on the 8th of March and you are getting married to an American on the 26th of March? I think you should register for the Guiness record of "finding your love in the shortest amount of time". That is 18 days. laugh.gif

The savings in tax are simple: your non-tax allowance can be split between two people so if she's not working you can save accordingly (or she is earning considerably less than you).

Of course you have to regsitrar you are married how else would they give you the benefits otherwise - you then change your tax class.

If you are an EU citizen then the non-EU wife will have be accorded the same benefits as if she was an EU citizen. Just speak to the Finance Amt and they will inform you accordingly.

Depending on where you are getting married, you also need to get your paperwork in order. From previous TT discussions it seems that getting married outside of Germany is the easiest way to go. Check the discussions on getting married.
