Hi guys
I'm coming to Berlin in June to study German with a language school for a year (i'm australian) . I have registered with my school and have been told that I do not need to apply for a visa until i arrive in germany. This information seems consistant. However I am unable to find consistant information on my eligbility to work as a language student. I have read and heard that only Uni students are permitted student visa's that allow them to work up to 90 day per year and that language students do not. Has anyone had any experience with this.
thanks for your help

Hi Tammy,
You are correct - as a language student, you are not allowed to work, fullstop. I was a language student enrolled at a German University, and even then I wasn't allowed to work.
Tough luck!

No, second-class individuals (non-EU citizens) have no access to the German labour market.
Of course, there was a time not so long ago when war-torn Germany's destitute people were seeking entry into and being accepted by the United States, Canada and Australia. However, it appears that reciprocity is not in the German Government's vocabulary.
Sorry to vent my frustrations, but German nationality laws are highly agitating.

I think the same goes for most countries. Germany can't be any worse than the US.
