I want to get my husband a Nintendo DS for his birthday, but have a few questions first.

Whats the difference between the DS and DS Lite? If I could get The DS with SMario Kart for pretty muchw hat the DS Lite costs alone..which should I go for? What games do you recommend? Thanks!
jamie
Get him the PS3.

First of all, I want to get him a portable console. Second of all, I would never blow 600€ on a game. So if you're not going to answer my questions then bugger off.

Gotta love a girl with attitude.

DS is the older larger console while DSlite is the newer sleeker console. Definately get him the DSlite. The screen is brighter and the console it much more compact and sleek.

I have the DSlite and the M3lite modchip adaptor for homebrew and with the 1gb microsd I can store up to 30 "backups" of DS games.

If you really loved him you'd get him the PS3.

erdbeere: I would also recommend the DS Lite over the previous version. Also look around for different prices/deals (incl. the internet) as they can vary. What was the price of the DS you have seen already with Mario Kart DS? Maybe someone on here knows where you can get it cheaper. Just a thought...

I have the DS Lite and I love it. It's great for boring ubahn rides. I like puzzle games and brain teasers and there are quite a few of those offered.

Although they seem to be marketing it at females so not sure if your bf will find the kind of games he likes. There seem to be less of those fighting ones that are so popular with the guys.

I too, have the DS Lite in white. Didn't get the black one because your fingerprints show up more easily.

I would not waste euro 600 on a PS3, when the xBox360 at euro 300 is just as good and all the same games will eventually be available on both consoles.

I am thinking to get the Nintendo DS lite (costs about 200 Euro). I intend to use it for media (MP3 and Films) when I am on my mega long haul flights. Get the biggest memory stick and can put alot of media on that. It seems to me the aeroplane entertainment system does not always work, the audio is broken, or the screen resolution is very poor, or the system is not working.

@bluedave, thanks! biggrin.gif

And thanks for the other comments... looks like I will be going with the DS Lite. I saw it on amazon.de for 140€ (the older DS + Mario Kart was 149€).

I think hubby would be into brainy games and stuff like mario cart. He mostly wants it for when I make him come shopping for me..so by getting him this we both benefit... he comes shopping wiht me and I won't feel rush and he won't be bored...and of course I could borrow it when necessary.

You're a top bird. I'd go shopping with my missus if she bought me a nintendo too.

Are any of you aware that if you purchase an adapter kit (about EUR30) from Amazon, almost all DS games can be downloaded for free?
