Police probe web cam chat deathQUOTE (BBC)
A father-of-two who apparently broadcast his own suicide live on a webcam died from hanging, police have confirmed. The body of Kevin Whitrick was found on Wednesday night after a chatroom user contacted police to report the 42-year-old had "self-harmed".

BBC News:
Chatroom warning after web deathSo this guy goes into a chatroom, in which people are "encouraged to insult one another", and announces he is going to kill himself. The other people in that chat insult him and egg him on, whilst watching his webcam stream, and he hangs himself...

I just can't imagine sitting there watching someone getting ready to kill themself... I mean, there's a big difference between insulting someone for a laugh (see Jimbo and don_rina's insult-flinging on here), and then continuing to egg someone on when it becomes apparent that they are seriously preparing to kill themselves...

Me neither.
Depression is a serious illness and some here are making fun of the ultimate price one man paid for his suffering.

True enough - though the idea of watching Don hang himself is perhaps going a little far even for me. We've had a great idea for a TV show starring Timmy Mallett and Jeremy Beadle though - ask Don next time you see him.

I don't think there would be legal implications, as a screen-shot image has been circulating the net for months now, and I am sure I saw it printed in a red-top newspaper.
Morally though, for pity's sake, think of the poor guy's family and friends. This is tragic enough for them as it is, without his death becoming a viral email for ghouls.
Depression is a terrible and debilitating thing. You can't get your mind working and it is so frustrating as you try to climb out of a pit of agony. I know, I've been there. It can strike you from no-where, and cause you to do things beyond your rational control.
Please don't mock. Don't call him an idiot or worse. It really could have been you or a friend that did this.

No, let's call a spade a spade. Someone who has long running problems with depression and goes into an "insult chatroom" and then kills himself after being egged on is an idiot.

Off topic, but the Kings of cheese united in one television show? I'm loving it already!!

Ah yes, not just together - but performing sexual favours on each other. Normal member of the public comes in and gets a hand job from some page 3 bird we're gonna hire. Then Beadle wanks Mallett off with his funny hand. If, after the computer has adjusted the two frames, Joe Bloggs still appears to have a bigger dick than Mallett he wins a holiday or a car or something.
Later Mallett gives Beadle a blow job, but we're not sure how that might become a game - it might just have be the end credits.

These are the same sort of people who would go to public executions, if they still existed. I was thinking that when I saw the news reports of the McCanns being gawked at and jeered at by onlookers outside the police station in Portugal. It's even easier for these people when they can spout venom anonymously on the Internet. Cowardly malicious creeps.

If anyone wants to watch someone commit Hari Kari, then here is a link (I'll even put a description so you know what you're clicking on). Quite surreal and nothing like you see in the movies:
Man shoots himself in custody

good grief, the lack of compassion and basic humanity from some people on this thread just leaves me shaking my head and giving thanks that most people in the world aren't like them
otherwise we might as well all join the poor bloke who topped himself
incredible

Man shoots himself in custodyI have no intention of clicking on that link but if the scene involves shooting, as you say, then it can't have anything to do with
hara-kiri / seppuku.

Many TV shows are targeted at the same audience, IMO.
As yet, it is humiliation instead of death, but that may change with the tides of time.
