Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill

I just read a really funny quote concerning Strawberry Hill...sadly, it pretty much sums up my teenage years...haha...

"We have all had Boone's Farm at some point in our lives. It is a rite of passage, as you begin drinking your little heart out. There is nothing classier than sitting on an old couch on the front porch with your bottle of Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill fine wine. It is an acquired taste that just screams "Drink ME!"

Does the thought of Boone's Farm take anyone else back? (Don't know if this is strictly an American phenomenom or not...)

*Laughing out loud*

I loved the shit, though my most recent memory of it was the first real date with my gf and she had a bottle...and well...then we headed to the bar...she had a few sips of a tequila sunrise, then ran out the front door...of course I followed, she whipped her head around looked at me funny, turned and spewed all over the sidewalk. The bouncer and I had a good laugh...the bouncer being a good friend of mine...anyways, many good times with Boon's strawberry hill, and their other flavors as well...

Ahh yes!

$1.39 and every twelve year old's first drunk time!

God that stuff was crap!

i think one of the funnier aspects of it is that the words "fine wine" are actually printed on the bottle

Absolutely! And I was just talking about this last night in German class (we were discussing the debate over whether or not the drinking age should go up to 18 in Germany). The teacher asked us how old we were when we first got drunk (14, on Boones Farm Tickled Pink). Yep, those were the days!

Not only Strawberry Hill but Kiwi Strawberry, Orange Hurricane, Melon Ball, etc. It's a classic. I wonder what percentage of Boone's Farm is purchased by those who aren't teenagers or homeless bums. 2-3% maybe?

jml told me how to make an amazing marinade with the stuff but I've since forgotten. Any help?

There's an old picture around of me tanked on Strawberry Hill and MD 20/20 that was posted on here a while back. I'll see if I can't dig it up.

The British equivalent would be White Lightning or MD 20/20. Both are cheap, nasty and every 15 year old's favourite tipple when hanging around parks, bus stations and suburban shopping precincts after dark. The enterprising fella that owned the local off licence opposite the bus station in my home town must have paid half his mortgage off by selling that stuff to underage drinkers laugh.gif

Not to forget good old Lambrini for the girls. Proudly keeping Great Britain's teenage pregnancy rate the highest in Western Europe.

This is the pic that sparked the memory...where the hell do I get my hands on this t-shirt?!

I loved the Sangria flavour. Until that was put to end by a horrible night spent draped over the toilet.

I can't even bare to smell the stuff anymore.
germanyshelley
I'd kinda like to have a go at a bottle...just for fun...but if I do that, I'll be obligated to throw in a 6-er of Zima too...
DrivinWest
I know where Boone's can be obtained in Germany... I have to ask a favor to actually get a hold of it but it can be done.
germanyshelley
Why do you possess that information, Drivin' West? hahahaha...
georgiagirl
Boone's Farm is awesome. Also awesome back in high school: Pink Lemonade Snapple mixed with Malibu rum.

Got drunk for the first time at a friend's house when I was 14. I had four shots of Zima and then fell off my bike on the way home.
WheresTheRock?
Boone's Farm Sangria, Zima, Wild Turkey and coke, wine coolers...all the stuff you drank before you were legal. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

What is this stuff then? In England, the drink of choice for the uderage was often bottles of Merrydown Cider at 1.89 a bottle, bottles of sickly sweet Thunderbird at around 3.50, and of course, my personal favourite, 24 packs of pathetically low alcohol Norseman lager from Tescos at the bargain price of 7.99
You could drink literally millions of cans of norseman with no intoxicating effect, making people assume they could handel their booze - a belief that always fell apart when they had to drink some proper beer.

Ahhh, the good ol' days, Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill, Zima, and Night Train... But ONLY in plastic cups! laugh.gif

There is a generation gap. Mad Dog and Thunderbird were around when I was young. The upperclass Boone's Farm was just a twinkle in someone's eye then.
don_riina
Mad dog. Heh heh. Forgotten that shit.

Not sure if this was a Canadian thing but the popular drink of choice when I was underage was Baby Duck purple "champagne".

Boones! Haha. Get your leftover bottle of Boones, if its a new bottle, and good god man why would you have a new bottle and not drink a bit of it... take a few healthy swigs out of it so you can put other stuff back in. You dont or at least shouldnt taste the boones once its done. Add soy, some olive oil and whatever spices you have on hand...we used crushed garlic, black peppercorns and redpepper. You can add whatever else you like but I wouldnt go to high class, its boones eh. I dont remember ever measuring stuff out, just until you get a nice colour. Becareful with the salt in the soy though, I always use lower sodium stuff. Put your handy dandy twist cap back on and shake it. Get some meat, I think we used mostly porkchops, but in either case I wouldnt use very lean cuts, ie. use chicken parts insted of breasts if you want to go that route. Throw it in a container, say a ziploc bag if your really lazy, and pour your boones marinade over it. Let it set a while, brush it with a bit more oil then throw it on the grill. I bet you could put it in a leftover bier can and stick a chicken on top of it and it would work too.

I knew a bonafide chef who gave this recipe a nod (you know in the what the hell to do with this leftover bottle of cheap alcohol category) and also swore you could make a decent berry vinagerette out of boones too but I never tried it. Something about boones, good oil, some balsamic vinagerette and rasberries. I knew some girls that claimed to make jello shots with it too but they were lying ho bags most of the time so I dont know if that really works.
perdido
Well Boones taught me if it aint got a screw off tap it aint wine.

I used to take my grandma Saturday shopping and she always threw a couple bottles Boone's Farm Hill in the wagon. Told me not to tell my father, but it was obvious later that evening. ohmy.gif

MD 20/20 was my first drunk! Sh!t wine disguised with artificial fruit flavoring and affordable for those with no budget. Seems like apple was the flavor of choice.
