I am translating a text about senior citizens and IT, and the word "Handlungslogik" crops up quite a lot. It has to do with the actions requiredm but also the reasoning behind them, and i can't think of or find a suitable expression in english. Leo only offers "the way of doing things", which isn't scientific enough really, or the "logic of actions" which I think just sounds like a direct translation and doesn't really mean much to me in english... Any ideas?

Same mistake as mine yesterday: Can we have a sentence? Thank you.
By the way, logical behavior instead of action?

Sorry, sure. The sentence I am working on right now is "Die in die Technologie eingeschriebenen Handlungslogiken müssen sich ältere Personenkreise immer wieder vergegenwärtigen"

logical thinking ??
(yeah I know it is actions too but thinking leads to actions...sometimes

)
Maybe you should get away logik/logical and use something like 'practical'

Actions inherent to technology ...
"Elderly people must actively recall actions inherent to modern technology."

Yeah, I'm tempted just to do away with the "logiken" and just uses actions/ behaviour/ methods etc, but I feel a bit like I'd be missing the point slightly, as the point of the article is not just that the senior citizens have difficultly learning to carry out the actions themselves, it's that the whole thinking behind the actions is different to that which they are used to - an example of which is that when you wrote a letter using a typewriter, the actual actions themselves weren't that different to now. The emphasis and the thinking behind it is however totally different, in that, for example, if you were going to write on a typewriter you had to be very certain about what you were going to wirte and how you were going to write it in advance, as once there were mistakes in the letter, you could pretty much start again. On a computer, you can just type away, no formatting, no real idea of the exact wording of the letter, and go back and change it as often as you want till you're happy with it. Totally different Handlungslogik

In the computer world I have come across actional logic to describe exactly what you're after. It's a hell of an expresion, but then so is Handlungslogik.

And now, I might just shoot myself:
"Ästhetisch-spielerische und haptische Momente des Handelns mit neuen Medien bilden gewissermaßen eine wirkungsmächtige habituelle Unterströmung,"

I felt like that yesterday. Sorry I can't help, I just got more legal junk, IT and IP.
Wax lyrical at your client's expense. Go tongue in cheek - it can't sound much worse.

don't shoot yourself, kathie. get a gun and shoot the person who came up with this crap in the first place. if you want to say stuff before you pull the trigger (as they do in movies) how about: 'it's not german, it's not any language anyone can understand, therefore it's just cognitive wanking and oops, you'll have to die now'
