you get the drift! So what is it that one thing closest to your heart that offends you and wants to make you come out and defend what you think is right.

Me, I hate it when people tell me about India taking away jobs from western nations, about how we should not feel good as we are looked upon the world as just cheap labor. Really gets under me skin!! I could defend me position till I friggin die.

I think this thread might get it out of the way as to what is really Un-PC

I get most upset by blatant deliberate cruelty to animals.

Offensive things to people/nations/etc I can handle, deal with it. People can choose to ignore and look the other way. When people f*ck with animals there is nothing they can do about it.

serisoulsy, TT has such an undercurrent these days of suffering and moaning in one form or the other, I thought I should at least have an idea of what people from different cultures find worth discussing and solving.

It offends me when people use homophobic terms whilst claiming not to be homophobic and refusing to admit that they (the words) promote hate.

Nothing on TT bothers me -- I either put in my two cents or don't bother reading.

I agree with the person who hates child molesters (though I'm not aware of having run into any on TT). Animals are not my species, adults are supposed to be able to take care of themselves -- but kids getting abused, especially by those responsible for making sure they are safe -- that really makes me angry. That's why I never went into law -- I can't be impartial, I'd always believe the kids, because no one else seems to.

In real life, these are my pet peeves:

People at the grocery store always moving up so close behind you that their cart touches your thighs

People who think public toilets are filthy and therefore squat instead of sit, making the toilet filthy

We'll see how long you keep singing that song as the Philippines and China do to India what India has done to the US. When you're basing your economy on undercutting someone else's, you need to make damned sure no one else can undercut you.


Sexist. Why is misogyny at the top of that list and how come misandry doesn't appear? It seems that hating men is perfectly acceptable. A lot of hardcore, butch lesbians constantly promote their misandronic views to no outcry.

I have a definite problem with religious fanatics who try to push their morals onto me. The refusal to write/fill a prescription or the censoring of books/TV shows and movies. I should be able to decide such things for myself. It makes me see red!

Religious intolerance in any way, shape or form gets me angry the most!!

We may be cheap labor when you look at the conversion rate, but when you look at purchasing power, we are not at all cheap! I mean when I started out with a salary of 400 yoyos/month, I had a 1250 sq mtr bunglaow, a cook, a gardener, a maid and a guard! Plus I could party when I wanted without worrying about money...do you think I was cheap labor?! Not our fault we can enjoy a lot more on a lot less!!

I think all internet forums are good for teaching people they don't have to be so precious. There's offensive things in this world, indeed, but there's also a bunch of people running around who are living in uptight little bubbles that you're not allowed to poke at. Their look-at-me-I'm-so-offended tantrums obscure 'actual' things that deserve worry or concern.
By 'actual' I mean real life issues and not whether someone used a word inappropriately or that you would appreciate so and so not using that word again because your sisters friend once had a terrible experience with bla bla and it was very sad for the family and saying bla bla is just disrespectful to people who might have bla bla and no one would say that where you come from etc. yawn.

There are too many threads on TT discussing Marmite. When I go to Cooking, one of the first things I see is Marmite-flavoured Guinness for instance. I actually wanted to post some recipes, but that thread is so offensive that I don't want to hang around too long in the cooking section anymore.

Otherwise I agree most with Sarabyrd: lack of respect bothers me most. Whether it's respect for animals, nature, men or women, certain nations, even people you don't particularly like or agree with.

In the defense of Mormons -- they are the majority in Utah, and many have never left the State. Like many Americans, they are taught that their way is the best way, and that the rest of the world (and religions) are really sad and pathetic and decrepit...

Thing that always bothered me was the hypocrisy. I knew some Mormons who (gasp) drank coffee -- and some who smoked, had sex before marriage, drank...but they felt it was wrong and were quick to point the finger at others. I guess in their short-sightedness they just assumed that someone who wasn't living under their strict moral code would go wild. Thing is, when you're not being so restricted, it's not so much fun to break those restrictions. Kind of like how drinking alcohol is so much more exciting when you're under 21.

Utah, by the way, has a very high rate of sex crimes.
