I am translation a brochure on Intellectual Property and cannot find a German translation for "market clearance". It could have something to do with the uniqueness of an IP idea.
Thank you for any good suggestions!

I have only ever heard of the term in economics, meaning that supply is equal to demand so the market clears. The German word for that is Marktgleichgewicht, but I don't know whether that is any help to you.

@ D: You may buy me a beer next time we meet for making you smile. I've got a raging headache and a deadline and need help, not just support.

Maybe you could post the whole sentence that you want to translate?

There's a good site called translatorscafe.com where you can ask these kinds of questions - turnaround time is usually excellent. I believe you need to register to post though.

"market clearance" in the sense that some regulatory body gives you permission to hit the market with your product?

EDIT: If so, JS's proposal sounds good.

mask work rights ... *No, this is not a Hallowe'en thing. *
We are still talking Intellectual Property. EPO, where are you when I need you?
Mask workQUOTE
A mask work is a two or three-dimensional layout of an integrated circuit (IC or "chip"), i.e. the arrangement on a chip of semiconductor devices such as transistors and passive electronic components such as resistors and interconnections. By extension, it also refers to the copyright-like intellectual property right conferring time-limited exclusivity to reproduction of a particular layout. The layout is called a mask work because, in photolithographic processes, the multiple etched layers within actual ICs are each created using a mask, called the photomask, to permit or block the light at specific locations, sometimes for hundreds of chips on a wafer simultaneously.
No idea what it is in German, I'm afraid.
