hello, we are going on vacation and our son will sleep upstairs while we will sleep downstairs. I was wondering if any of you parents have baby monitor recommendations? Specific brands etc.
Thanks in advance.

H+H seem to be decent, although the transmitter range varies a lot between models - the more expensive ones really do seem to be better (although we're happy enough with our €20 one most of the time)

Spend the money to get a good one. It will save you in stress and frustration in the long one. Let me find out the name of ours and post it. Then, go to a flea market and buy a used one as they show up there all the time. That is where we got ours and it works wonderfully. There are also church sponsored baby tröddel (sp) markets. That is where you get the good stuff and for cheap.

We bought an expensive Phillips one but it kept picking up the taxi drivers signals so we took it back and changed it for a cheaper one. It gave up after 3 years but by then both kids were able to yell loud enough we didn't need it.
My advice is buy one and test it out stright way. Buy from a shop or mail order company that accepts returns without a fuss in case it doesn't have the range or frequency you need.

Eurovol, imho it isnt a good idea to buy such an item in a flohmarkt. Don't get me wrong we shop all the time at Flohmärkte and I am known as the Krattler in our family but this item shouldnt be skimped on.

The brand you want is called mobi baby monitor. They run on battery or AC/DC. In a baby tröddel markt, you can even test the range of them with and without obstacles. As spring is in the air, well not since spring actually started, baby tröddel markets will fire up soon at the local churches.

This is not a direct answer to your question, but my stand on that is that kids that are too small to wake their parents when they need to should be sleeping in the parent's bed. It does wonders to their primal trust in their parents and therefore the world. I am sure you would do your kids a favor - in a way that would definetly come back to you, whether you believe in karma or not ;p

That is a good way to roll over on top of your baby and suffocate it. Do not be sleeping with a small baby. Use a bassinet next to your bed and hang your hand in there. Between 6months and a year, they need to go to their own room and that is when a baby monitor comes in handy. If a more sensitive monitor is needed, guess what, they have them too.
