Hi Folks,

As a complement to Thursday-night drinks, some of us are meeting for coffee Saturday afternoon around 16:00. Following VenusInFurs's suggestion, we're going to St. Oberholz (Rosenthaler Straße 72a; U8 Rosenthaler Platz). I believe the plan is to sit in the non-smoking section downstairs.
cooper
hello smile.gif

i may come with my daughter.

first-time-caller
Great idea...possibly cinema after?
stubbs
cooper, how old is your daughter?
I have the little girl that I look after (shes 22 months) on Sat and I may bring her.
phoenix-rose
I'm Game - as long as I don't get called in to work (and maybe even if I do - I really need some English language speak!)

Happy V Day!
~Rose
VenusInFurs
I'll be there smile.gif
jatindutt
can i also join u all?
actually i am new at this forum, so dont know about how the things go.
but...i dont know german language!! only english!!
ScotsLassinBerlin
It is a free for all where these things are concerned...and it will be slightly different than our Thursday night meet ups as no one will be drunk...ok I wont be drunk!
gooner_gal
I wouldn't bet on it wink.gif
Kat78
I can't make it this time, but I'll definitely try to come next Saturday - if it's still happening then. wink.gif Have fun tomorrow!

Hi folks,
just found out about this website and forum... and quickly registered... is the coffee meetup allcomers welcome thing, I do seem to be at a completely loose end this weekend..?
martin..
jtw
Sure, just drop by. (It's safe to assume that holds for any of these meetups.) Some of us have profile pictures to help you recognize us.
phoenix-rose
I'm also gonna bring a few books for those that are interested. See ya in a few hours.
~Rose
phoenix-rose
Great idea on the coffee thing - I'd like to do it again - so... anyone up for another round?

Also, I should have a couple more books (as promised particular to Stubbs) next time.

~Rose
VenusInFurs
Definitely! It was a great idea!
martinh69
Hi folks,
I came to the coffee meeting thing, but unfortunately was unable to find anyone other than a couple of girls who were also looking for the group... perhaps there should be an easier way of finding you, (i did feel a bit of a tit asking all and sundry, and that certainly didn't go down well...).
Anyway, next time perhaps...
martin..
jtw
Yeah, sorry about that. Part of the problem was that the only table we could find was upstairs, way in the back. Also, there were a lot of English speakers there, so it wasn't just a matter of finding the English-speaking group.
phoenix-rose
Agreed. So, next time, maybe one of us can bring some odd ball thing to put on the table? Or better yet.. I could bring my dog? *half-kidding*

I know in my case, I asked 3 different groups of english speakers if they were there with the Toytown group before I saw JTW and said Hey! I recognize him from his profile pic. (That always helps...)

On a separate topic, when the weather gets nice, we should do a TT Berliner picnic in the park or something. Then I really *could* bring my pup.

~Rose
VenusInFurs
Picnics are so fun!

FYI
We just opened a new cafe in Prenzlauerberg near the Schoenhauserallee sbahn and you are always welcome to meet in our cozy little back room. there are two couches and two tables back there and the place is completely non smoking. I can even reserve the room for Toytowners if you want. It would be comfortable enough for up to 12. You can look at our website (bear with us, it is still under construction) at www.saladelpopolo.com. The back room picture is under the "salons" section.
Hope you like it!

Sounds good to me. Does the same time work for people?

Hey, the pictures look really nice! Am afraid I won't be able to make the TT meet as I have a friend visiting but we may pop in anyway smile.gif
phoenix-rose
Sounds fine to me - just need an address and a map?

According to their website it's

Sala del Popolo
Kugler Str 31 (directly on the corner of Greifenhagener)
10439 Berlin
Tel: 0178 694 1803
allisonhillier
Hi all,
The above address is correct and the closest Sbahn is Schoenhauserallee. Go out the back exit and you will end up on a nice little bridge which is Greifenhagenerstr. Go north (to your left) for about 4 or 5 streets and you'll find us.
Let me know about the time and i'll make sure the room is free. This shouldnt be too hard since we just opened last Monday and we arent exactly overwhelmed with business:)
Looking forward to meeting you all.
allison
2elles2
what time is the meet up?
jtw
In the absence of counter-proposals, I'd say same time as last week, 16:00.

Who wants to wear a funny hat so people can find us this time?
gooner_gal
If the room is reserved for TTers there should be no need for the silly hat, oder? Unless you feel the need to wear one jtw wink.gif
phoenix-rose
I think he should wear the funny hat. :-P
jatindutt
yes!! i would like to join you all this weekend!
but again!! please tell me that how do i recognize the group?
allisonhillier
The back room will be reserved for Toytowners so dont worry about finding each other. The place is only about 45 square meters so there should be no confusion although everyone is welcome to wear strange hats. No harm in spicing things up a bit.
phoenix-rose
jatindutt, you can also check my profile (click on my name) for a pic. I'll be there. (BUT WITHOUT THE FUNNY HAT)
jatindutt
many thanks Phoenix-rose!!!
jodie_n
I am looking forward to meeting you all, but I'll for-go the funny hat if that's OK with you all. I haven't been to a meeting before, hope that doesn't matter. See you at 4, before going to watch the rugby!!

Jodie
VenusInFurs
see you all there!
phoenix-rose
Ok so any last minute requests book wise?

I'm bringing a couple "chicklet" books for stubbs (Stubbs, are you gonna make it this week?)...

I've got a pretty good selection genre wise so let me know.

~Rose
jtw
I'm still looking to borrow a copy of The Da Vinci Code so I can read the second half of it.

Oh, and I'll try to remember to bring Jane Eyre just in case.
stubbs
i should be there, if im not though could you maybe give them to Venus?
phoenix-rose
JTW, can you wait to get DaVinci Code? I work next weekend, so it'd be 2 weeks out before I could get it to you, but I do have a copy somewhere. (It's in a box in my storage room.)

I also dug out the newest Stephen King book (whoever borrows this, I will want it back eventually) Lisey's Story. It's pretty good - and not terribly scary. It came out last November (when I was in the states) and I haven't seen it here yet.

I also have Black House if someone wants that one (don't want that one back) I can bring it.

Stubbs - sounds good. I'm bringing a big hard back 3 set of Victoria Holt - and one cheezy harloquin (courtesy of my mom!).

~Rose
jatindutt
hey!!
it was really nice meeting all you friends! a great chance for me to experience good english after so many days!!!
looking forward to see more next time!!
and the cafe was pretty well done!! nice coffee and nice time!!!
my best wishes to the owners for their cafe venture!!!
phoenix-rose
He he he Jatin, I think you're pretty happy with meeting everyone. Hopefully, next time you'll be a bit more comfortable and jump in the crazy conversations we have. In the meantime, I'll put some feelers out on the books you wanted. I'm sure I'll have no trouble at all in locating at least one.

I can't be at the meet up next week (March 3/4) but in two weeks. So, in 2 weeks, can we move it a bit south? (remember, I live clear the hell to tim-buck-tu so...)

Side note - anyone seen Pan's Labyrinth yet?

http://www.cinestar.de/de/kinos-lokal/berl...2&prefix=40

I'm dying to see it, but OV is spanish, and looks like subtitles are to be in German. This is not one for the kiddies, but is instead, being billed as a fairytale for adults.

Why don't you take the "coffee baton" for two weeks from now, and propose a location (preferably non-smoking) closer to you? (I'm guessing somewhere around Potsdamer Platz?)

In the meantime, next week's coffee baton is up in the air. (I get the impression the consensus is that Weekend Coffee ought to move around like Thursday Night Drinks does, but Sala del Popolo would make an excellent unofficial favorite coffee shop, like Hairy Mary's is the unofficial favorite bar.)
phoenix-rose
All right - I'll take the coffee baton for 2 weeks from now. (That at least gives me some time to run around and see what/where I can find.)

Ooo if I'd seen this sooner I would have brought my copy.
Next time...
jtw
So Rose has a week from Saturday covered, but who wants to propose a place for this week? (My favorite cafe in the Hackescher Markt area became a Chines restaurant.)
VenusInFurs
There's a nice non-smoking cafe across from my house...I'm not sure what it's called but I can look when I go out later. Anyway it's on the corner of Metzerstrasse and Prenzlauer Allee...Only cafe there and it's non-smoking.
jtw
Sounds like a plan. Please post the name when you have it.
jatindutt
so, where are we meeting tomorrow?
