The "damn" Cubans built Miami, it is dependant on all the trade with Latin America. They are also usually bilingual.
If you speak only English then you do not stand a chance in an international city like Miami, the monolingual crackers are relegated to the ghetto of coconut grove and the everglade swamps. Or you can go get a job in Walt Disney world dressed up as a mouse.
Londine
OK to Out everyones mind at ease. My " apartment "in London was small by my standards . Well it wasnt an apt . it was what is called a set in a building called Albany. The other places in the UK were town houses . I dont know the square footage but each had three reception rooms and one had seven bedrooms and one had six bedrooms.
I have a small 9 room apartment in Germany. Main living space is a 425 square metre house in the US. I am one person. I cant imagine living in less which is what I mean by families living on top of themselves. .

I have a small 9 room apartment in Germany.

Please clarify for me how a 9 room apartment can be considered small. What's the square meters? It just that, at the risk of sounding somewhat rude, I suspect you are talking through your ringpiece. Obviously ones opinion of what is small is relative, but I fear for the size of the individual rooms in this 9 room kip of yours.
Jimbo
Londine lived in Albany? I've not googled, but I know of one Albany in London - some of the most expensive flats per square foot in the world I should think as it's one of THE exclusive addresses in London (W1, just off Piccadilly almost opposite Fortnums). What suggests that the above is utter shite is that the flats in Albany are, to my knowledge, all quite small. Certainly a flat in Kensington Court would be bigger, and even then only usually have two receptions, one study and two bedrooms at most.
osmachar
She must be loaded. No-one could ever afford anything like what Londine is describing on an average salary.
Keydeck
I don't think she ever said that she had an average salary. However, assuming one has 425qm as their main place, I'm still intrigued as to the size of the "small" 9 bedroom jobbie. From a quick glance at the Munich property sites there's nothing with that many rooms under 300qm. Assuming 425 as your home, then 300 is not exactly small.
osmachar
Or Londine is winding us all up.
Keydeck
You mean full of shit, right? It's only really a wind-up if someone buys into it.
Tiggi
Maybe 9 rooms in total, including kitchen, bathroom, etc.?
Keydeck
Well if we're throwing those into the equation I've got 7 rooms so fair enough, if I had come from 400+ then I might consider my 100+ here a bit on the small side. However, I'll be interested to read what Londine has to say on the subject. I deal in a bit of property myself so have an interest in such things.
Jimbo
If Londine lived in Albany he/she would have sold their pad for £1m+ at least, and if they somehow acquired a 7 bedroom 425sq. m pad in W1 they'd probably be worth somewhere North of £5m. In other words it's bullshit.
Keydeck
QUOTE (InvestorClass @ Apr 30 2007, 3:53 pm) *
still like I said real estate in a decent part of Miami costs 10,000US a square meter, New York and San Francisco is even more insane with real estate in better areas STARTING at $10,000 a square meter(I am talking about regular working class neighborhoods)

Can you provide a link to back up those figures?
Jimbo
No, because the're bullshit. Even top London prices don't go above £3k psm and London's recognised as just about the most expensive place to buy property in the world.
Villager
tsk tsk, London is expensive, but so is Madrid, Barcelona with some neighbourhood average prices at over 5.000€/m², this being lognormally distributed means that you can find prices easily double that
check out : http://www.euroresidentes.com/Blogs/proper...y%20prices.html to compare london and madrid
http://www.idealista.com/informacion/precios_q1_07.pdf for average flat prices in Madrid, Barcelona, etc.
London can be as much as £9,750 (€14,522) per sq. m. http://www.prurgent.com/2007-01-18/pressrelease1342.htm

I bought my flat in D-dorf at €2.000/m² with nice fittings and no renovation needed, quite a bargin
Jimbo
Should correct my earlier post - I believe I may have been talking about per square foot, not metre.

I thought that was established long ago.

Seems Londine knows everything about everything :-)
Jimbo
Certainly knows that the flats at Albany Courtyard are opposite Fortnums. Had Londine been inside those flats he/she/it would have realised just how small they are.

Perhaps, if Londine is reading this, Londine would like to tell me why there was a large police investigation at those flats about 8 years ago. If you lived there, you would certainly know...
Londine
My Goodness.
now suddenly You are all washing my financial Laundry in Public. The Albany apartment was a sub let , owned by a cousin of mine who kept it for when she was in London.
She died ten years ago . The Cambridge House I owned outright , the other UK house was co owned by me and an ex husband.
I dont have a salary, I have my own business.
The Albany place was small, a little corner in London for shopping and meeting friends ( I actually do have a few ) but it surely did not seem as small as these tiny German apartments that I see four people living in.
No I am not counting Kitchens and bathrooms.

honest to god... Dealing with some of you is like pouring kerosine over a hibachi. I have never seen people blow up so fast over nothing . They do have Meds for these conditions.
Keydeck
Londine, simple question, what size is your 9 roomed apartment?
kitkat64
Maybe Londine should get together with InvestorClass - they sound like they're made for each other...

I am sure a lot of people would love a bit more space, but they might not be able to afford it - ever considered this?

No, you did that by volunteering so much information about your property portfolio! If you publish that much detail, you can expect interest, comment and speculation from those in the know - especially if parts of it seem flawed or inconsistent. That's why public discussion of income and assets is usually best avoided. Well, that and the fact that many people consider it to be in rather bad taste.
Keydeck
What I dislike, whether the person is genuine or just a fucktard trying to stir, is the inability of many to answer simple and direct questions. If you are genuine then the answers should roll off the tips of your fingers, or at least an acknowledgement of the question and refusal to answer. If you are making it all up for whatever reason then your credibility is seriously undermined by not addressing the details. You make a point which may or may not be true, but which certianly raises questions, and then refuse to back it up through detail or response. Branded as a fucktard automatically.

A competent internet user, my kingdom for a fucking competent internet user!

now Tiggi
I agree that talking about ones money is bad taste. I didnt , we are all talking about houses and how much they cost in comparison to other countries. I havent said anything about how much any houses or flats I have had costs. In fact , I dont know , sometimes husbands handle these tings , isnt that what they are for?
Jimbo
Londine, that's not strictly speaking true is it? I think Kay's selection of quotes [Are any Germans in favour of Sunday opening? demonstrates that pretty well.

You also say you go to Fortnums when you're in London as it's near your flat. Except it was your cousin's flat. Who's dead. And has been since 1997. So either you're not as good a liar as you thought, or you're not quite such a regular to Fortnums as you make out, non?
Londine
Keydeck

I dont know how big it is It seems if I would tell you how big it is in square footage that I would again set a bunch of these wild people off , into some orbit. Well I give up. I honestly dont care if people live in hollow tree trunks. All I know is the amount

of space that I am comfortable in and that I grew up inhabiting.
I am getting curious now ... I would like to meet many of you.
Rilana
So Londine, you have no idea what your houses in different places cost, so I'm wondering what exactly is your opinion regarding property prices based on?
Keydeck
Londine, for someone who is allegedly so well versed in the property market I am surprised that you do not know the area of your own place.

I will happily meet you and discuss such matters as I have a very real interest.

Cousins flat , Yep. we traded houses part of the year. so its a sublet with no money exchanged...Mine for yours until I get fed up with London and you get fed up with Virginia.
Dead , Yep. Inherited by cousins children.
I rarely go to any grocery store . Fortnum and Masons is close .

Made me laugh anyway.

EDIT: Though not as much as the description of Fortnums as 'a grocery store'.

EDIT EDIT: Londine - were you at Albany during the Police investigation then, or remember anything about it? Always thought it was an interesting case to be honest.
Rilana
Too true.

I think Londine, you need to consider the fact that perhaps, what seems like 'living on top of each other' to you, is actually the norm and feels perfectly spacious to 'us' average folk.

If you have inherited your cousins kids, why do you state you live alone in your 9 room flat? Where do the kids live? and your husband? or have they been banished because it would be too cramped? blink.gif

Can I come with my popcorn?
Londine
Cousins Kids inherited the flat . Good Lord if I had a child now Id tie it to the back porch until it was old enough to rent out.
Yep . I heard about the Police thing from some people ...I wasnt there . remember I'm in VA , and Germany . with excursions yearly to other places for business.
At the time my cousins son told me what he knew of the police thing but I recall asking him , " does this involve you or the apartment ?" and he said " no" . and I added " In other words when I am thereI dont need to keep my bags packed and passport handy in case the police are beating on the door ." and he laughed and said " definitely not ".

i own a house on the 17 Mile drive in CA, now that is good property. wink.gif

Hold it together Londine, your English is starting to slip badly wink.gif
Jimbo
Londine - do you actually know what happened? Your reply suggests that actually you don't.
Londine
Jimbo
NO . I have no idea what happened except the little that my cousin told me . He doesnt live there full time .
Keydeck
Londine, will you go check on the square meterage and price of your place here please? I'm thinking of upgrading and could use the input of someone in the know. Whereabouts in Germany is it anyway?
Jimbo
I see. Nevermind.

The prosecution rests.
Londine

Since you are so interested in square footage, When the man who lives in the apartment below me in Germany returns from a business trip I wil ask him about the area in his apartment . They are identical except that I have a " wing " with two extra rooms and a bath.
You seem to have a special interest . If you are a realtor I would be interested in something a bit larger with taller higher celilings.
Jimbo
The flat below you? But doesn't have a wing? Is your apartment capable, in part at least, of levitation?
Londine
Keydeck
Its in a charming city in Bavaria.
Keydeck
I'm not a realtor Londine, but I do have quite an interest in property. I currently own a few places in a number of different countries and am always on the lookout to upgrade and/or expand.

What the **** is with this forum these days? It's like a plague of breeding frigging trolls these days.

We have people pretending to be mental Israelis, people asking if foreigners were capable of sex with locals, and now we have this fucktard.

PLEASE CAN ALL THE TROLLS AND MORONS JUST FUCK OFF BACK TO YOUR HOLES IN ROMANIA OR WHATEVER. ITS WORSE THAN TRYING TO FILTER VIAGRA SPAM FROM A HOTMAIL ACCOUNT.
Jimbo
In which case Keydeck I'm your man - been looking into this quite a bit of late - are you talking short/medium term growth or a retirement investment? For the former I'd say Bulgaria is still a good move IF you invest wisely, and not just the first thing that comes along, but for a longer term plan I'd say a couple of flats in a large Chinese city - I know a few people that'll guarantee 10% return in each of the first 3 years if that's any good to you.
Tiggi
JE, are you kidding? This thread is fantastic! Been cheering me up all morning. Still on tenterhooks as to the exact nature of the police investigation though... wink.gif
osmachar
Now you have insulted all Romanians... wink.gif
HellesAngel
All Romanians are fucking pikeys, fact.
