Hi,

I came to know that IKK-Direct is the only insurance comp offers 12% per month for health insurance. Since all insurance comp offers more or less similar benefits.. I prefer to opt the cheaper one..

Is anybody here having this insurance and could you please let me know if their service is gud..

Also do they provide service in English..

Also please let me know if you have any other insurance comp, better in both service and cost than this one..

Regards,

If you qualify for private health insurance then try the Grund versicherung form HUK Coburg for 120 euro a month.

it really doesn't matter... all gesetzliche Krankenkassen have the same (by law) benefits.
so... go for cheapest which is according to this the IKK direct right now.
If the ranking changes - just change your Krankenkasse.
if possible for you (freelancing / earning more than 47.700 p.a.) I'd go with rosenheimguinness. At least as long as you are young it is cheaper.

Hansemerkur Health Insurance for under €40/mth
If you are a non-German under 35 living "temporarily" in Germany (up to three years) then you may qualify for a policy from Hansemerkur that costs less than €40/mth.

Please note: This health insurance IS also valid for people living temporarily IN Germany. Not just for Germans travelling abroad.

Not really true. They all have the same basic benefits it's true, but many also offer additional benefits such as alternative treatments (homeopathic, etc) or preventative measures or have flexibility in the way they handle claims.

So I finally got all of my pay issues sorted out and now I need to get Health insurance. I am in good health, 31, and really don't care about the service. I am a US Army vet and if I ever need anything major done I can go back to the states and get it for free. I just need to meet the legal requirement by April 4th.

Is this 40 euro/month thing legit? Basically will the einwohneramt be happy with it?

I'm a freelancer, and the least I can pay the better. Any info?

If you're a freelancer, I think you'll be able to get away with it, I had a plan from www.expathealthcare.com when I was a freelancer and they were great - paid out on a pretty big claim for an accident I had. Rules have changed recently though so I'm not sure.

Oh, boy. That's a good one. I guess you've never actually tried to claim your vet benefits.

Not that I think it's fair or honorable, mind you, but considering the dismal state of veteran's health benefits in the US, my advice to you would be to get decent German insurance and have your treatment done there. I had public German insurance for 6 years and never had any problems with it. On the other hand, my veteran father-in-law can't get the treatment he needs and is supposedly entitled to.

Like emergency hospital treatment? I hope it never happens to you, obviously, but do you really think it's a feasible plan?
