There's a huge difference between a fuck buddy and a prostitute. Besides, it was Lavenderrain who first suggested a prostitute so please get off your moral high-horse when it comes to men. And no I don't condone prostitutes or Asians or East Europeans for that matter. You must really be a loser to have to resort to something like that in my books.

Girls do it, they just don't talk about it. That is, unless you are another girl and then they like to brag. Then second girl says if you are doing her for comfort, then do me too. This is where things get complicated because one of the tenants of FBs is that it is safe and not whorish like. Therefore, if you do FBs GF, then FB feels like a whore and starts to wonder who else you are doing, but if you don't, then FB may think that it is something more than it is and starts to imagine something more permanent. It is a delicate balance that usually only lasts about a year or so. There is something about getting screwed for a year that fucks things up.

I never met the man but the qualities (honest, funny, self-deprecating) evident in the original post means I hafta root for the guy, Grinner god bless ya, I sincerely hope it all works out for you. Ulysses, whether men turn to prostitutes or not does not interest or concern me. What bothers me and this what I wrote in the beginning of the thread already, is the tone in which women get discussed on this forum and those two posts were examples of what I meant. The guy basically wrote "if you are looking for a girl to fuck, either go to Hansastrasse or fly to Asia for a month". The next one then wrote "yeah, but be careful not to catch any diseases. That's an example of the kind of shit we women get to read on TT. I found it offensive as a non-Asian woman, not sure how offensive Asian women would find it. I have often enough had to hear how men speak of Asian women("travelling through Asia with your girlfriend is like taking your own beer into a bar"). It bothers me and I am not even Asian.

Prostitution in general? Go ahead, why not, it's a job like any other. I think Grinner can do better though.

I can't believe I actually went through so many of these posts. I really don't see the big deal in having a "fuck buddy". It's better than jacking off whilst watching someone else getting filthy. If both participants in this arrangement agree that the relationship will be based purely on sex, what's the problem there?! Sod all. Gosh. Stopped reading after the first 4 pages. I just don't get it...what the big deal that is...so what, that's what he wants, that's what he's looking for, if it's not something you want, ignore it...if it is - get in touch. Simple, but why keep it that way when one can complicate things. Everyone has a time in their lives when they are lonely but might not neccessarily want a full on relationship - I really don't see what's degrading or any of the like. He is being open and honest and it's refreshing. It's probably the very opposite to degrading if anything.

Strange how some days on TT have a certain theme running through a number of threads. This thread, the serial comma thread, and the "there are loads of types of english" thread are all about the same thing man, language.

The phrase "fuck buddy", however crude I or others find it, has entered the international vocabulary man, it is used. Grinner is an Englsih bloke from up north with t' whippets and shit, and if he actually said the words "fuck buddy", it would sound a bit weird really, but he's used in in writing here - and in the context, all he was saying was "looking for a bird; friendship, few drinks, and also open for it to progress to a sexual level". Pretty fair statement. Better than somebody geting close to somebody and the finding out that sex was never going to on the cards. How many people have been gutted to make friednds with somebody and then find out that there is simply no chance of it going further? Its not nice to be on either side of that one - telling somebody that you can only be mates, or finding out from someone that you can only be mates...unpleasant. "Fuck buddy" is a clumsy phrase, but in this case it simply suggested that something more than friendship is possible.The phrase itself may carry connetations of sexism, or objectifying women, or whatever the fuck, but casting those connetations upon somebody as a view of his or her opinions, just because they used a certain phrase? Not right.

I like the term fuck-buddy. Had one a few years back. Beautiful thing it can be. She's still a friend of mine, still a buddy, but sexually we have moved on to other partners where LOVE suddenly entered the picture. Consenting adults and all that. Or is any sexual act performed by or upon a human being of the female persuasion automatically a faux pas unless it comes with (however insincere) promises of everlasting love?
