Most places here sell it, check out DM, Müller and any other such drugstore. Just look out for selbst Bräunungs spray

I think Plane Girl probably means salons that have machines that spray you, oder?
mellelisa
I need to try out some tans for my wedding and dont know which ones are best - ideas anyone?
Plane Girl
yes i mean the machines.I am very much addicted to the spray becuase it doesnt give a cancer like the beds...i dont like the ones u buy at the store because u cant never been 100% sure with those!! And the machines always gave me a nice even bronze tan... i have been doing that for the last two years...

Does anyone else know? tongue.gif

Yeah, ok, don't be surprised that yep, I do know this: Tanning product recommendations

But BeautySpy is now closed so if you want St Tropez, you'll have to buy it at Douglas and slap it on yourself.
More tea, Vicar?
@Plane Girl, there's a shop full of bright orange woman sales persons, and large pod-like body shaped cylinders - like the ones the crew in Alien slepped in when they travelled long distances through space. I presume that this is a lady's tanning shop, but you'd have to check to be sure. Top of Victualienmarkt, corner Frauenstr. and Reichenbachstr. Extremely easy to find.

Happy spraying

Self-tanners are GRATE and you don't have to end up looking like Posh.

SunDash is the brand name for spray-on self-tanning cabins which are located in some "Ihr Sonnenstudio" branches.

I think I have some old creosote in the shed if that helps. wink.gif

So has anybody ever tried these spray-on tan places in Munich? Moonboot, did you try it out? I have a trip to Mallorca coming up in a couple of weeks, and I really don't want to hit the beach looking as pale as I am. Might scare the natives.

On the other hand, I'd prefer not to do the scary orange look either.

A Tangerine dream.

Has anyone noticed the extra leg/foot hanging out to the right in the piccy above?
georgiagirl
I was too busy being appalled by Lindsay Fauxhan's horrible fake bake to notice the extra limb. But yes, now that you mention it, that disembodied leg is kinda creepy too.
Timmeh
That fake bake looks a bit of alright to me.
georgiagirl
Ew, Timmeh, no. My hair is similar in colour and style to Lindsay's in that picture, and she is a prime example of why us gingas need to be careful with the fake tanning lest we walk around looking completely monochromatic from head to toe.

Me, I'd rather stay porcelain than wind up like that.

Her navel jewelry is naff too. But anyway.
Timmeh
When you got a bangin bod like that you could be purple all over, I didn't even notice she was a ginga.

I've been told by dark, studly Southerners that there is something erotic about smooth, white skin. Especially if you've got reddish hair.

Funny anecdote: my sister's husband is Brazilian, but she is as pale as I am. So before their first trip to Rio, she went to the solarium twice a week for a while. She got a horrible rash, and in Rio it rained so much that they spent one afternoon there, no more.

I once tried this dove moisturizing lotion with a touch of color in it. Worked alright for a couple of days, but then I started turning orange in funny places and getting stripey, and it washed off in water.

My recommendation is that it is better to go and be white than to go and have weird, orange patterns all over your body.

Watch out for the freckles when sun tanning.

I've just come back from 3 weeks in hawaii and my body is a lovely golden brown but my face looks like I fell face first into a diaper dry.gif
georgiagirl
I seriously doubt it's that bad, ER! smile.gif But yes, avoiding freckles is another reason to self-tan rather than try the real deal.

I just don't know if I can bear to bust up in the Balearics looking all redheaded and pale. Looks like if nobody's tried the spray stuff, might be time to resort to the other suggestions.

I've yet to try it out, am going to a wedding in a few months time thought I'd try it then. will let you know how it goes!
RedReitenHood
Careful, Moonboot! I would test it a week or two in advance of the wedding. I'm also a ginger, so I may be biased, but I do fear orange streaks after a spray on tan!

Better safe than the-orange-face-in-the-wedding-pics sorry! laugh.gif

I do not sun-tan anymore naturally because of the fear of skin cancer. In NYC and Chicago you can find places that off a spray on tan application that last for several weeks and does not smell or come off in the water. Usually they cost around $50 bucks and application but are totally worth it if you are going on a beach vacation and want to look good in your bikini but not get skin cancer. Any suggestions?

Drink all night..arrive to beach around 4pm...then no worries.

I recommend the Neutrogena build-a-tan products. My sister uses them, and she doesn't look orange at all. The spray is great for getting to places you can't reach with the lotion, like your back.

oo goody there is a salon that does the spray thing in Augustenstr. here's the site.
will be going in a few weeks and I'll report back!

In America we had better sprays altogether and they are applied by a human and not a machine. I did the machine once and it all rubbed off like a disease in the ocean once, ... so does anyone know of a day spa that offers a personal application by hand? I have had the best experience with this type of spray on tanning. Let me know.

Hello!!

I'm new to TT and Munich but use the forum even more than google!

I'm fed up with (German) people constantly commenting on how white I am. I'll admit that reflect in the sun and that i'm verging on the blue side of white but so what if I'm an English rose. I don't care on a day to day basis, but i've got a special occassion coming up. In London i'd pop into a salon pay 25 pounds and come out a lovely bronze but there doesn't seem to be that option. There are sunbed shops on every street corner but none of them offer a fake tan service.

Has anyone seen where you can get it done in Munich?

Thanks for any responses!

Emma H.

Emma, get out in the Englisch garten, with a Bogenhousen ad that shouldn't be so hard and for the 25 quid you save you can buy me dinner in the hirschau.
Interested?

I am looking for a spray tan too before I go on holidays in July... will let you know if I find anything...where is the St Tropez shop when you need it...or the walk in tanning booth?

The site Moonboot recommended looks good.

Bell the cat
you can buy in in Oberpollinger and Ludwig Beck. The Clinique stuff is the bees knees and it is cheaper and just as good as getting sprayed in a salon or the likes.

I have to go to my brother-in-law's wedding in Hawaii next month and after living here in Germany through the winter, I am not surprisingly rather pasty and pale. I was wondering if there is a salon here in Munich that does the spray on tans to give me a bit of colour? (I don't know the word for "spray on tan" in German, do you?). I didn't want to actually use a tanning bed and further damage my skin. Any ideas?
