from Go>Muenchen Dez.2004: A trailer advertising the services of a sex club in Laim was recently left parked at the end of Munich's prestigeous Briennerstrasse. The waggon was covered with images of scantily clad ladies. Naturally, the police were eager to tow it away. Unfortunately they couldn't. The law states that trailers may be left to stand on public roadsides for up to two weeks. They can only be removed if they remain stationary for longer. The cunning owner, however, had two identical trailers which he simply swapped back and forth. And thus the naked ladies remain standing where they are. ...

The above story is a classic example of Schleichwerbung, a fantastic German word which means "advertising on the sly". Now, I don't know whether this practice is on the rise in Munich or whether I'm just noticing more of it. But my perception is that there's certainly more and more surreptitious advertising going on nowadays than there used to be.
More commonly seen than trailers are simple push bikes. These bikes have advertising built into the frame. They are then padlocked to a prominently placed lamp post and left to stand.
The photo above shows just such a bike left outside of Cinema Muenchen. The advertising is, of course, for Ryan's Muddy Boot, the Irish pub in Neuhausen.
And during a quick walk around Odeonsplatz you'll find no less than three different bikes, padlocked to three different lamp posts, advertising three different businesses. I've no idea what the law is regarding these bikes. Is there a time limit on how long they are allowed to stand also?

The sex waggon is no longer to be seen on Briennerstrasse (perhaps unfortunately). It has been replaced by the rather more boring trailer pictured below. It is promoting the services of some kind of car hire company.
