We're all familiar with Munich, Germany, but what about Munich, North Dakota? Well, Munich ND is in Cavalier County, just 30 Km south of the Canadian border. The population in 2002 was exactly 251, and dropping. The town was named, unsurprisingly, by the German immigrants who settled there in the 1880's. They mostly came from German enclaves in the Russian Ukraine. Today the ancestry in the town is 59% German, 10% English, and the remainder are Norwegian, Irish, Scottish, or Swedish.
