I dunno if this is just a Munich thing, or a Germany-wide phenomenon. But has anyone else noticed these weird shiny balls-on-sticks in German gardens? They're like giant christmas tree balls, put on the end of a stick, and stood up in the ground... I've seen things like this while travelling through deepest darkest Indiana too. Parallel evolution? Alien conspiracy?... Aren't they supposed to scare of birds or cats or something like that?... But what do cat's do that need deterring?... I asked my landlord about it and he said they are for fun!... Crazy Germans! Why can't they make do with a good old British garden gnome?
