Just get a boyfriend.

Very affectionate and can be low maintenance.

Wait...where does one find a boyfriend like that...no seriously...

as for the pet...this may be the WORST possible time to be in this city is one is longing for a dog...(as I currently am) I can't take care of a dog...so I don't have one...but everywhere i turn...puppies...puppies...puppies...

I may lose my mind...
and on that note...
if anyone needs a dog sitter here in berlin...pm me...

oh yeah...about a good pet for Oomcha...
right...
when I was a kid (and about as responsible about things as I am now...)
I had a pet rock...
It was a long and happy relationship...
I was even able to throw it back in the yard when I was old enough to go off to college...

I read about five pages of this sentimental advice before getting bored and deciding that even if this link was posted before, it needs to be posted again. Ooomcha you're being honest that you're lazy and I respect that. Not the honesty, the laziness.

Oooooomcha, order from http://www.shorty.com/bonsaikitten/

hey oomcha, I didn't read all the posts beforehand but you want a pet right so how long are you planning on staying in Berlin?? What will happen with your baby when it's time to leave? sad.gif I want a dog SO BAD but it's just impossbile and would be unfair to have one here. I have 9 at home and I miss them soooooo much! A friend of mine has a hamster and he's about 3 years old now I think. Really cute, small and low maintenance. I don't know a thing about licenses here but when you know what you want, you just have to ask. Good luck.

You need a license for a hamster? blink.gif
Uncle Nick
Yes, it's called a "Hamstererziehungsberechtigung".

I got some dust bunnies, I can send them in the post.
They are really low maintance, and don't need to be walked at all, but every so often I find more of the them so I am not sure if they invited friends over to party that never left or if they are multiplying (scary thought- if they keep multiplying, I could be dust bunnied out of my apartment). You are more then welcome to them.
mere
I'd opt for the latter- they're multiplying like rabbits smile.gif

I used to have lots of dust bunnies too but my new cleaner arrived sometime today and they all left sad.gif

I miss them but i'm sure they'll come back to see me once they know she's not around. smile.gif
Carm
yep, dust bunnies are very fickle things, aren't they? wink.gif

Oomcha, get yourself a giant hairy spider! Definitely not boring. You can take it everywhere with you - just pop it in your handbag, with one or two long hairy legs dangling out for best effect. Loyal - yes. If anyone tries any funny business with you, just tell 'em your spider's bite contains a deadly venom for which the only antidote is the juice of a plant found only in Papua New Guinea and now believed to be extinct. Far more intimidating than a big guard dog. Low maintenance - again yes. Just let it roam free in your apartment and it will eat all the insects it finds. Also no worries about taking it to the vet - most vets probably wouldn't have a clue what to do with it anyway. Good luck! biggrin.gif

I think Oomcha should get a Tasmanian devil. laugh.gif

QUOTE
The Tasmanian Devil (Sarcophilus harrisii), also referred to simply as 'the devil', is a carnivorous marsupial now found only in the Australian island state of Tasmania. The Tasmanian Devil is the only extant member of the genus Sarcophilus. The size of a small dog, but stocky and muscular, the Tasmanian Devil is the largest carnivorous marsupial in the world. It is characterised by its black fur, offensive odour when stressed, extremely loud and disturbing screech, and viciousness when feeding. It is known to both hunt prey and scavenge carrion and although it is usually solitary, it sometimes eats with other devils.

I've got a bearded dragon back home in Sydney (a Lizard). Very low maintenance and dont take up that much room eats crickets and cockroaches but you need the right stuff like heat lamps etc..
You guys sell them here and you dont need licenses but you have to expect it to live for up to 8 years. But for low maintenance the trouser snake sounds good wink.gif ...
Yeti
Impossible to train though.

VenusInFurs
Haha and don't you have to feed them mice? That would gross me out...
