There are some english speakers up here in Hannover - english, american, a couple of them are in here. There are also meet-ups for english speakers. I know one irish guy, but I haven´t seen him for ages.

Hi Rez,

(No pun intended. Honest!)

I'm an American in Hannover, willum's a Brit and there are a few English-language groups in and around Hannover. More about that in this linked thread.

Don't know of any Irish people in particular, though. Mainly Brits, Americans, and Aussies (roughly in that order).

Maybe we'll see you around, eh? wink.gif

Cheers,

What did you have to go and tell her that for, probably put her right off... biggrin.gif

But I didn't even mention the second head and the way your knuckles drag on the floor!

Oh, wait. That's what I'm like.

I was just going to say, you were probably looking in the mirror as you wrote that...

And anyway, I´m the one with the hunchback and the three eyes!

You flatter yourself, sir!

And hey! Where were ye tonight (Wednesday)? Arrrr, no sooner does the lad come to a meeting at Henry's, then he just buggers off. ;-)

Hi Rez,

I'm a Brit in Goettingen - here with my husband. Just arrived a few weeks ago - get in touch if you fancy meeting up.

Arrr, avaunt ye! I´ll have you know I was once voted most handsome Quasimodo look-a-like! And what are you doing up at 2:21am?

There was a meeting on the 21/22.03, must´ve missed that. Yes, and I know I missed the 18th April as well, I read my mails a day too late. I´ve got a lot on at the moment - getting the garden started, visiting parents-in-law, etc., I will turn up again, I promise.

Don´t know about Irish people but I´m Australian. Would love to catch up with other native speakers for a chat.

The next upcoming English-language meetings in Hannover that I know of are:

Saturday, 28 April, 10 am
Children's reading hour
Escape Books & More, Oberstraße 8 (by Christuskirche in Nordstadt)
Usually a dozen kids and their parents, with both native and non-native speakers
(I might be there, probably not, though)

Monday, 30 April, 7:30 pm
Bayrische Botschaft (a.k.a. Paulaner), Thielenplatz
"SpeakEasy" -- usually 20-30 people, mostly non-native speakers, but some natives there
(I probably won't make it, but anyway)

Saturday, 5 May, 10 am
Children's reading hour
Escape Books & More
(I'll be there)

Saturday, 5 May, 6 pm
Anglican/Episcopal Holy Communion church service
Old Catholic parish hall, Brabeckstraße 24, Kirchrode
(I'll be there)

Wednesday, 9 May, 6:30 pm
Hannover Anglophiles
I *think* at the KDW, just off Osterstraße (they keep moving...)
Usually about a dozen people, mostly non-native speakers
(I should be there)

Wednesday, 16 May, 6:30 pm
Hannover4EnglishSpeakers (a.k.a. Whitney's Group)
Henry's Griddle, across from the opera on Georgstraße
Usually about 10-20 people, mostly native speakers
(I should be there)

If anyone knows of any others, feel free to add them. smile.gif

Cheers,

See you on the 9th or 16th, I swear.

And maybe even on the fifth, if I pick up the Brötchen from Schäfers instead of here round the corner. biggrin.gif

My boyfriend studies in Goettingen and he speaks English very well. He's in his first year of English and History. I'm sure I've seen a poster in the hall way about an Irish person... (was it from you?)

We live in Hannover, you're always welcome to get in contact. smile.gif

Hey Fairfax, I was there yesterday evening (KDW), where were you? Got talking to a guy who´s a member of the german Doctor Who fan club.

I have to go to sport next Wednesday unfortunately, or so my conscience tells me. Sorry.
