Bank charges levied by RBS when you change address

Costs for not telling your bank when you move

Does anybody here have a Eurocard credit card? I've just received a bill for 25€ for "Adressenrecherche", I moved flat on 1st february this year and have a "Nachsendeantrag" for the next 6 months, giving me plenty of time to inform the RBS of my change of adress. Has anyone had a similar experience?

A sender of mail ie the bill for the credit card can specify that they don't want their mail to be forwarded to a new address.
This is common with mail from the government and financial institutions and is an anti-Fraud measure.

I bet somewhere in the Ts and Cs of the credit agreement is that you agree to this charge to cover their admin costs if they are unable to directly reach you by mail.

You might try and get them to waive it on goodwill...

The other letters from the RBS have been forwarded with no problems, it's just this one bill that includes the extra charge for "Adressenrecherche", why should this make a difference?
MonksTown
I guess other letters from RBS weren't specified to be delivered to the oriiginal adress only.
If they are just sending out general stuff they don't care but they want the bill to go to you directly.

They are saying because they couldn't contact you directly, you have to pay €25 in the extra costs involved to track you down.
Given that they probably had for an individual case contact Deutsche Post, adjust their system for a new address and then re-issue your bill, €25 is a fair enough rate as far they're concerned.

I've just been in touch with th RBS, they've agreed to dropping the 25€ charge, but told me to let them know sooner next time.
