Where to get an official German translation

German beauracracy has requested a translation of the “Social Security Statement form SSA-7005-SM-S1 (01-2005).

Surely this can't be. The BFA has done enough of these already.

Does anyone know of an official translation or agreement between the US and Germany.

Ask your Consulate about it, maybe?

good idea. I thought so too. After all there is an agreement. I must have a copy of it somewhere...
here is the reply from the consulate in Frankfurt.

Dear Ms. Willis,

Unfortunately, we have to inform you that a German translation of the Form SSA-7005 does not exist.

Sincerely,

Operations Supervisor
Federal Benefits Unit
American Consulate General

Well duh! You will have to have it translated because you just do. Get over it already and get it done. I am sure you can find a certified translator on this site. You are now in another country with weird laws, deal with it and don't stress. Life is too short as it is.

i know, old thread, but darling, would you please tell us why? i really hate dislike posts with no background info. people do use this site all the time for more than just posting questions. maybe one day I'll come to TT and put in the search box "form SSA-7005-SM-S1", then I'll be like woo-hoo, hit! but maybe others who don't know what form SSA-7005-SM-S1 is, might say "oh, i might need that too one day". who knows.
