Rock climbing in Düsseldorf

This week myself and UKJoe will be heading on down to klettermassiv (www.klettermassiv.de ) in Oberkassel / Heerdt.

It is an indoor climbing wall just outside Düsseldorf. We aim for 7-ish, work dependant.

If you have never done it: climbing is great fun and no, you do NOT need arms like a gorilla, or muscles like Arny! It is not that cheap: € 8.50 flat rate per day (€7.50 students and DAV members). Hiring a harness is 2 €, trainers are ok, no need to hire climbingshoes, they help but are not crucial.

I am happy to show beginners the basics and explain knots and belaying technique its easy stuff. But for practical and legal reasons, it is initially better to take no more than one or two beginners for one experienced climber (ideally 1 to 1). So first come first served. Myself and UKJoe are experienced climbers...not necessarily good, just experienced!

So, Is there anyone out here interested in joining us? If we get enough response we could even start a regular session!

The address of the hall is Wiesenstrasse 76, you can take the Ubahn U75 to get to Heesenstrasse I think...I will check later to post instruction to get there.

von Düsseldorf Hbf und Neuss Hbf:

* die U75 nehmen
* Aussteigen: Haltestelle Heesenstraße
* bei ALDI in die Wiesenstr. abbiegen
* nach 600 m auf der rechten Seite
* Und schon seid ihr da

Take the U75, get off at Heesenstrasse.
On the left, you should see Aldi, and go into Wiesenstrasse.
Keep on going, it might take about 10 mins to walk to no. 76.

I'd like to find somebody to climb with on a regular basis. Happy also to joint existing "teams" if possible. Perhaps not twice a week, but like to find somebody could call once in a while and go climbing or mountaibiking or similar.

As Klaus nicely put it in his message I am "an experienced climber... not necessarily good, just experienced" with quite a long break from climbing, but generally in good shape. Polish origin living in Düsseldorf since 2005. Should anyone have second thoughts about my nationality, I am not working in the "international car trade business".

Living in Düsseldorf Grafenberg close to Cosmo Sports with a decent Climbing wall: Vertical Park.

I am new here too. I am looking for a climbing wall near Neuss/Mönchengladbach where I can take my daughter (5 years) climbing. She has been climbing in our gym for a while now but our contract runs out this month. I have looked at the two climbing walls mentioned here, will go there if necessary but it would be good to find someplace a wee bit nearer.

Hey Everybody!

I am moving from Barcelona to Düsseldorf for work, and I want to do some climbing in NRW/Düsseldorf, and meet other like minded people. I have been climbing in Barcelona for the last 2 years, and I was basically learning on my own on climbing walls here, and so I would like to learn from someone more experienced and see what I am actually supposed to do to improve! It sounds like there is a pretty vibrant community up there, so I am looking forward to meeting some of you. I will be around this weekend if anyone is up for something.
