So I just went outside... I was actually lucky to see the moon at all (at least for a minute)... It isn't red either. sad.gif Maybe I have to wait till later, and hope it happens to be in the same spot it was when I took this picture... (because everywhere else was covered in clouds)

SeK612
The BBC article says "The eclipse will start at 21.18, and totality will begin at 23.44." those are in GMT so I guess it starts around now here in Germany with totality at 12.44 am?
Yeti
Lovely and clear down here, myself, the dog, a pair of binoculars and a flask of hot whiskey are going to be going out for a wander later. I may end up standing under a streetlight wondering when the eclipse is going to start.

Ah yes, that might explain the absence of red. biggrin.gif

This is my other one that came out okay... equally cloudy. rolleyes.gif

Showem
Thanks for the tip about blocking the light. Just found the boxes that wine and champagne come in are about perfect for fitting around the lens. It's nice and clear here, there should be pictures later.
Yeti
Hey Showem, is the Clonette out moon worshipping ?
perdido
I always found when shooting with point and shoot it was also fun to focus lock then place over exposed slides in front of the camera lens. Basically a cheap mans filter.
Showem
Yeti, the clonette is asleep, absorbing the moon rays. Will probably wake up just in time for totality. And a feed.

Typical, last night here was lovely and clear with a near full bright moon, but tonight I cannot see five meters in front of me in blizzard conditions. Bloody crappy Norwegian weather! Post your photos people.
Showem
A bit fuzzy, but you get the idea.

For those of you clouded over there'sa live webcast going on right now.

I have the same scope as this guy trained on the moon for the entirte eclipse.

Cloudy right now but am optimistic it will clear up in a few minutes.
Punchbear
TBFB. So sorrrrryyy. I thought horticulture was your forte. Drink more cider.

Neighbours are all out in the Innenhof, you can see it. Going down to have a goo.

I calculated for GMT already (mentioned a few pages ago) -- the moon will be totally eclipsed at 11.44 Munich time (so about now is the time to start hoping for clear weather... :-) )
bucket06
It cleared up here for 5 mins and i got a peak at the partial. Woohoo! Then the snow came back. Boohoo! Hope it clears again so i can see it in total eclipse
Sari
Hey showem what kind of lense are you using?
the Boy From Bozlem
im going bed and fall over. night all ... x
perdido
Thats wasting your weed dude. (man i just want a job , take the drug test, and then smoke a bag.)
pootle
too much cloud here sad.gif seeing nothing
perdido
Are you not even getting light through the clouds pootle?
Showem
Sari, it's a Canon 70-300mm IS.
Carm
nice photos everyone! Beats my small digital camera. But I have been on the balcony to watch it.
Sari
Yeah I have to go on my balcony too...friggen windy and I have a shitty zoom sad.gif Someone tell these clouds to clear off!!!
Sari

LOL...damn I just have 70mm max sad.gif *sigh* Maybe someday I can afford a better lense.
Punchbear
Been out in the Innenhof for 20 minutes, some major breaks in clouds and some lovely viewing, at one point you could see the darkness inching across, but I guess it's relative and the more of the moon eclipsed the faster it appears to be moving. Nice neighbours, they came equipped with bahonks and Gute Laune. But the cloud cover appears to be getting thicker. Thankfully the wind is pretty high so the clouds are moving fast - adds to the drama, wot wot smile.gif
Showem
It's kind of cool, you can see the bottom part is a darkish red, even without totality. I don't think you can see it in the photo unfortunately.

Showem
Neato, it is turning a dusky red. Camera is in use, so no updates just now.
Jenny L

This was about as good as I could do.
Sari
Awe man...at least you get to see it...here is nothing but cloud :'(
Mariposa
Ditto! No moon visible, no nothing. The sky is black (except I think it was a bit reddish, but maybe that was just my imagination).
Sari
No the sky is a bit reddish but I think it is just reflecting the city lights.
Showem
Okay, I've updated my blog and will add more later. Right now I have to feed the clone. Sorry folks.

I'm a point and click kinda guy

For some reason this reminds me of the Aerosmith line, "Sex is like a gun. You aim, you shoot, you run." wink.gif
Sari
ah well...I give up...off to bed with me.

If anyone happened to get a good pic of the ring, please share!!!
Grinner
Will up load some more later..

Jenny L
God dang it. How did you get your pictures to turn out clear and mine are all fuzzy? dry.gif
Tom17
Damn, there was way too much haze over Olympiaberg. All my pics came out crap, over exposed and when totality came (an hour later than I expected), the clouds came with no gap in sight :-(
jeremy
Your astroman here with super duper gear down here south of TT is fed up! Totally clouded out.

Ah well I have new astro stuff to play with from Teleskop Service Ransbourg. Two books and a Barlow.
Tom17
My best of a very bad bunch :-(

Partials...

Looking for interesting things to block out light pollution...

And I got bored of waiting for clouds to pish off...
Jenny L

BadDoggie
I got fucked by the clouds, too. Had a 1.4m long tube to go over the lens ad block light. Needed something closer to 10km. Damn clouds.

woof.
jeremy
Right then,

Time to take the scope indoors and admit defeat.

Few nights ago Saturn disappeared behind the moon. Thought I'd show you what, owing to rain and cloud, we missed

Spectacular.
DoubleVision
Is anybody watching the lunar eclipse right now? The sky is clear tonight, even if it is a bit windy, and the moon is turning orange. Quite a sight, too. I spent a little bit of time gazing at the color change through a telescope. Nice indeed. smile.gif

There's more about it here: CNN

Grinner
Ok.. 2 more...

BTW.. Tom, That piccie of the Olympia turm is fab.. not quite straight though.. oder? wink.gif
Showem
I think JennyL got the best picture, that's a great red moon. I have a short sequence of the lunar eclipse, but it's missing that final fully red picture. We just didn't get it.
