Yeah. I totally agree..the food was pretty good.
Ravski
I think the lang awaited cup of cha was a funny incident. tongue.gif
roots
Yes, the food was great last night.

Bush or no bush, in the end Democurrycy and Curryket that prevailed. Just wanted to throw that cheesy one in. smile.gif

Thanks yall for coming.
Mopsy
Very yummy indeed. Now I just have to deal with the consequeces of the Vindacanon for the rest of the day...ouch! Great stuff Roots
ashu
I am sure there wud be something funny in the second round of Chai as well. I was walking to the U-bahn with the guy and the pretty slovakian lady and he didn't like me at all. He was trying to convince me that "his state" was better than anywhere else in the India and that germans love "his state" tongue.gif
Ravski
@Ashu: You think thats interesting. I long long time ago I went to an indian restaurant in a village and requested additional onions, as I do at home. However the waiter took offence and gave me a massive pile of onions to prove a point. I asked him if I could pack the onions. laugh.gif
Topsy
Hey Ashu, I guess you mean Tony, the guy from Kerala?
Sorry, but Kerala *is* the most beautiful place. I dream of going back there nearly every day. And that guy's home town was Cochin, which is also a truly fantastic place. I can highly recommend the Hotel Delight. I wish I knew how to post pictures on TT, I would post so many, but then I would spend all day doing it and not get any work done... rolleyes.gif
Hope I haven't offended every Indian on here who is not from Kerala ohmy.gif
ashu
@Topsy: I have been to Kerela ( Cochin and Kovalam) and it is a very nice place. No argument there. I was just talking about the "my state" is better than "your state" attitude thingy. Hell..we are from the same country. I like both Kerela and Delhi...why the need to discuss who is superior? rolleyes.gif
roots
@Ashu
Told you to keep your hands off the nice slovakian lady.

@Topsy
I am not from Kerala and yes you offended me. You better buy me 4 beers to soothe this pain. tongue.gif Just kidding. Kerala is a lovely place indeed and is definitely prettier than our Delhi Belly Boy Ashu's city laugh.gif
ashu
@roots: I kept my hands off the nice slovakian lady..but I can't vouch for her though wink.gif

Why, oh why, did I chose education over money?!?!?

That is what is almost always stopping me from going to curry nights. Graduate students get paid about half as much here as they do in the States. It's particularly bad in the last couple months, because my sister came to visit and I took a vacation I couldn't afford. That's ok, though, because it was great to see my sister. Once I recover, I'll start getting out to these curry nights. Until then, I'll just have to stick to my Korma, Vindaloo and Tikka Massala in a jar.
roots
Tomorrow we meet at 8:00 PM at

Ganga
Baaderst. 11
Isarvorstadt
Tel. 089 2016465

Time: 8 PM

Once again, this is an alternative curry night and there is also the usual curry night going on at Sitar at 9:00 PM tomorrow. Please pick the one that suits your time and make a reservation.

@false
New Delhi is definitely an option but this week we will do Ganga cuz those who went there last time loved the food and service and wanted to go back.
Brummie
eh up! anyone coming this week? AM?
pootle
Sorry am doing the Nauhausen night out. But curry at the Sita is penciled in the dirary for the week after.

P
pootle
Out of interest, whats the difference with this event and the indian stammtish that you also organise and that happens at a different indian resturant??

P
Topsy
@ pootle - the difference is that this one is on a Wednesday and the stammtisch thingy-bob is on a Saturday smile.gif
I guess...
Kza
@pootle yeah and perhaps ones an Indian Stammtisch, i.e. for indian people, and the other ones a curry night.
roots
The Indian stammtisch is primarily an Indian event and has an Indian aura to it. Along with everything else we also discuss native things and make native jokes but at the same time we welcome everyone to share and experience our culture.
false
FYI : you can get directions to the place : here
Brummie
the registrations page is still open past 5pm. is that planned?
david@muc

RAMA  Arnulf Str.114

comes highly recommended from me as a suggested location for next weeks Alternative Curry Night #2
Owain Glyndwr
i thought New Dehli was planned for next week?
Topsy
no!! do rama next week - that way, you can throw bits of naan at us ex-brummie types smile.gif
can't you do new delhi the week after?
Ravski
I like the food at Rama. I could go there. Assuming its around 8pm...
roots
@Owain Glyndwr

I wanted to go to New Delhi next week but after having dinner at Rama last night and talking to others the consensus was on Rama.

I just confirmed with Rama and they also have Balti with chicken and lamb. So you will get your Balti OG man.

I promise the next one will be at New Delhi.
Owain Glyndwr
ok.

aber bitte mit Rama!
helena
Was that funny?
Jeeves
Only if you know the song. And even then not very wink.gif
Owain Glyndwr
it was a song from Udo Jürgens:

QUOTE

now they use it to advertise Rama cooking oil (aber bitte mit Rama)

so to answer your question, no it wasn't funny just sort of popped into my head.
MadAxeMurderer
Now were talking. Rama is in my top two. Mind you all I ever seem to have there is the Paneer Takatak
Winegirl
I'd like to try a new curry place this week...So what time are we meeting?
oli2000
How about 7:30pm for this week? B/c then I could drop in on the way home from work.
helena
Make it 7.30 and I'll come too! biggrin.gif
Ravski
7.30 sounds good to me too. I can come straight from work. I can get a few beers in beforehand. smile.gif
roots
This week we meet at

Rama
ArnulfStrasse 114, City Center
U- or S-Bahn to Hauptbahnhof
Tel.: 089 129 7760 ...or 089 129 5773
Time: 7.30 PM

I also want to be there at 7:30 so that I could leave early because I have an early flight to catch to Washington DC on Thursday.

For those who are not aware Rama also makes balti with chicken and lamb.

Rama is a small place so 15 members is ideal and 20 is maximum. Please reserve early.
Ravski
Can someone add me on as my password does not work yet again.
false
added Ravski biggrin.gif

how come it is limited to 15/20 ?
roots
@false

Well, you saw how small the place was. When I talked to the guy he also said 15-20. May be we could sqeeze in a couple more but anything above that will be uncomfortable to everybody I think.

The food was far too yummy to pass on this restaurant and the portions were huge too smile.gif
xargon
Gonna be there!

Cheers!

xargy
MadAxeMurderer
Roots,

I think you'll find the Rama can handle serious numbers. I used to be part of a curry group that wnet there often years ago. But lets keep it to max 20, and then ask them what kind of number they can really handle on Wednesday.

BTW They will do proper onions baji if about 10 people order them in advance. So how about planning a mass Baji order? I'm in.
Grinner
Come on chaps/chapesses..

Whats going on..

Has Rootsherbal fucked up the original Curry night..?
I do hope not

G
Jeeves
I hope not too *adds reply so he can click on "reservations"*
Oh, and this time 9 is a good time.
pootle
will be there +1...

Curry #2 at Rama

Here is the detais on how to get to Rama,(remeber kick off is @7.30pm)
  1. Take the Tram #17/16 from Hauptbahnhof in the direction of Romanplatz
As far as Donnersberge Brücke (a.k.a. The Mercedes Stop)
Walk back in the direction of the city to the Black Dot Thingie on the picture.
  2. Or you can take the S-bahn to Donnersberge Brücke too.
This is handy for people who have the same sort of sense of direction as myself.

New-hungry folks are more than welcome (as ever !).

16 people signed up now ... I can't wait for the big portions !
acquascutum
how can it be an alternative curry night when it's on the same night?
xargon
@acquascutum - Oh dude, don't even go there. TT thread will explode again!
