I missed quite a few CNs recently and am looking forward to the next one.
I am thinking Sitar or Ganesha.
As always open for suggestions for something totally new.

either one is fine for me, as they are close to home for me.

Next attempt: Noor Jahan, perhaps?

Ganesha was suggested last week and was changed to Deeba due to the latter's proximity to the Arc b/c of the football, so how about giving Ganesha a shot this week.

hmmm...Ganesha makes the best chicken naan while Sitar owes me a beer. Tough choice

Theres also glockenbach night out if people want to come along after curry?
roots
Oct 17 2005, 10:58 am
whats the word on Noor jehan? I wasn't there. Was it good?
The TT's only review isn't very convincing but what did you guys think?
MB, have you been there?
MajorBummer
Oct 17 2005, 11:13 am
Roots. Went there twice already. Nice and cosy inside, food is definitely better than average. The waiters are sharp, the portions big and the quality about 8 out of 10. No freebees whatsoever though if that is important to you. Curries are about 12 bucks a go.

Might come down to this one as it's in my hood.
roots
Oct 17 2005, 11:22 am
ER, the hood hasn't been decided yet.
MB, the freebies usually need to be squeezed out. Some restaurants don't give em away until asked.
Would like to hear couple of more opinions on Noor Jehan though.

My suggestion seems to have been deleted but I have recently made a couple of visits to the "Taj Mahal", at the junction of Nymphenburger/Landshuter Allee (very close to Rotkreuzplatz/Maillingerstr U-Bahns)
New opening and the food both times was excellent. The free mango liqueur at the end of the evening was also spot on.

Oct 17 2005, 12:12 pm
are you guys not gonna join the glockenbach crew?
it's always a fun night when everybody meets up, innit?
roots
Oct 17 2005, 12:26 pm
If the idea is to join GBV group then I am afraid we dont have much choice with restaurants.
Ganga is out--Not good last time
Tandoori is out -- no need to explain
Samrat -- nothing great about it
We are left with Maharani II. We went there only two weeks ago.

what about
Palast der Winde?
anybody ever been there?
it's slap bang in the middle of GBV

-if we picked Sitar- then those that want to join the GVB night out can take the 17 tram there, if we take Ganesh then its the Sbahn to Marienpl then.
I like the fact that we try to move it around the city some... so its not always in the same neighbourhood.

The question is, do people want to meet up with the GBV group?

Well, then we will listen to marka (always respect a newbie) and go to Taj Mahal. I also never went to Taj Mahal so I am fine with it. It only takes a few extra minutes to get to GBV for those who are interested.
Taj Mahal it is.

I'll come along next time.

What was wrong with Ganesha? You suggested it yourself, roots. But I really don't care anymore, I can live with Taj Mahal if I must.

Am willing to give it a try, why not? But will have to leave early in order to get back home again before the MVV runs once every 20 minutes.

Yeah! Haidhausen!
ps- maybe we should start planning a few weeks in advance so there is not this back and forth every monday, putting tons of pressure on Roots to come up with the goods!
Owain Glyndwr
Oct 17 2005, 4:03 pm
well, since it has been pointed out on many occasions that it is "Root's Curry Night", maybe no-one feels that they have the right to chose the venue, thus putting the pressure on roots to make the final decision. Maybe a simple poll function each week could also solve the problem. The restaurant gaining the most votes, wins.

Actually didn't see your decision, when I added my post Roots...but that's cool...I'm eating out too much at the moment...so maybe sometime in the future we'll make it Taj Mahal...mein allerliebsten indisches Restaurant...

Not really a problem. It took about half a day to make the decision, and considering that 20 – 40 TTers attend CNs that's actually quite quick.

Right then, where the hell is Ganesha? So I am coming via
MVV and have never been to
Ganesha. Do I get out at Rosenheimer Platz and go on foot or do I get out at
Ostbahnhof and go from there? Which is the shorter way? Checked hot-maps but it's difficult to tell by looking at the map.
Carm
Oct 19 2005, 9:35 am
Its the same distance from
Ostbahnhof or from Rosenheimerpl... makes not difference.

MB, it is actually closer to Rosenheimerplz. About 3-4 minute walk.
Eleanor Rigby
Oct 19 2005, 10:24 am
MB, get off at
Rosenheimerplatz, exit in the direction of Rosenheimerstr. (opposite direction of
Gasteig) and walk down
Rosenheimerstr. on the left side.
