Hi! I discovered the community a few days ago and thought i wouldnt make it to the
curry night, but as my flight to Manchester never took off this morning, then I´ll join ( I saw you welcomed new people: so you have one more for tonight:-)

I definitely think a
curry night is the best way to meet TTers in "real life" for the first time. Especially if your not one of life's extroverts as its has a very relaxed atmosphere.
Also if you are an extrovert, its a good place to show off

Haven't signed up but if my shopping in town goes successfully I might come along later. Looks like IPJ could do with some female backup - not many girlies registered today! Thought the S8 to airport was every 20 mins. - are there problems on this line too?

Great night, good to see IPJ & Hubby. I'll see you both at the next Quiz Night.
Good service, we were well looked after.
Though unfortunately cant say much for my food. Asked for it 'extra hot' and they must have misunderstood that to mean no spice at all, I've had spicier Chicken Korma. To be perfectly honest my Vindaloo had the exact same taste & texture of a jar of Patak's Vindaloo. Not that I'm saying thats what it was.
Yeah but Patkas Pastes are all Pukka!

Mmmmmm... Pataks...
But only cold in sandwiches with some melted cheese on top though..
Not tried that but the Homer Simpson impression made me smile

Aug 18 2005, 9:36 am
@Rus - True, Patak's are the best pastes to buy if you have no idea how to cook a curry from scratch and want something quick and easy. But if you go to a resteraunt then it should be better.
Someone else had the same as me(Lamb Tikka Vindaloo), dunno who it was. What did you(Whoever you were) think of yours?

A good night, always nice to meet fellow SciFi and video game fans

Can't remember what mine was called a "Chicken Tikka Jahn-something" it was down as "sehr sharf" on the menu. Just right for me, same as a Jalfrazi in the UK.
I will probably be seeing a few of you again at the quiz night.
I had the Butter Chicken and although it wasn't very hot it still tasted quite good since it had decent spices in there.

Great evening, great company, although I did move away from the SciFi/computer games end of the table, and I wasn't the only one

The good thing about that was that I got to meet all three newbies who not only signed up but actually turned up

Once more, welcome, peeps.
Food: ah yes, there was some of that too if I remember correctly. I enjoyed it but it was more like a Chinese stir fry than a chicken jalfrezi, both in looks and taste. But what the heck, they had oodles of lime pickle so that was soon put right.
And what's with the Peshwari naan with chicken and without Peshwari

Food: Very good
Company: Excellent
Restaurant ambiance: Pleasant
Service: Could be better
Freebies: None. Had to ask for schnapps--something unheard of in
curry night history. No papads.
Newbies: Great
Carly and Sevie: Lovely
Victims: none
For everything else, there is Mastercard.

Falco B., MizBunce and I all shared out three dishes. We had lamb vindaloo, vegetable alu gobi (I think) and chicken chucha. The lamb was very tasty and tender, but the vindaloo was utterly unimpressive and not very hot (and I'm *not* an English hot kinda person). However, the vegetable alu gobi and chicken chucha were damn nice, and I was very happy overall with my meal.
The only thing that I found really displeasing, and I hope is not a sign that
Rama is going downhill like the restaurant-I-dare-not-name, was that when 3 Lions left much more money than he should have, rather than leave it for us to figure out exactly what he owed, the guy swooped it right off the table to ensure he got the extra.
The company was excellent! It was great to meet the newbies. I only wish I'd be around to be at future curry nights.

Thanks all for making the trek out to my neck of the woods!!!

Sound OK to me, don't think I have been there before.
One question or two:
The name Shiva is always associated with "Destroyer of Worlds" in mind. Probaly from Oppenhiemer's comments on first seeing an atomic dentonation.
Is the resturant named after this Shiva? If yes does Shiva have good aspects as "Destroyer of Worlds" might put some people off
roots
Aug 22 2005, 3:39 pm
Shiva is not "Destroyer of Worlds". Shiva is the Destroyer of Evil.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ShivaQUOTE
Shiva (Sanskrit: शिव, and written Śiva in the official IAST transliteration) is a form of Eashwara or God in the Vedic scriptures or as corrupted in Hinduism. Adi Sankara interprets the name Śiva to mean "One who purifies everyone by the utterance of His name" or the Pure One, that is, one who is not affected by the three gunas (characteristics) of Prakrti (matter): Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas. However, Shiv is commonly known as "the destroyer." Additionally, Śiva can also mean, "the Auspicious One." He is often depicted as the husband of Uma. In the process of creation, Lord Shiva is the primeval being and creates the other members of the trimurti. He is symbolized by the wisdom of the Serpent.
Mahadeva is another name for Shiva, (from the Sanskrit Maha = great, Deva = God). More often than not, the Aghora (fierce) version.
Śiva is the third form of God as the Destroyer, one of the trimurti (popularly called the "Hindu trinity"). In the trimurti, Śiva is the destroyer, while Brahma and Vishnu are creator and preserver, respectively. However, even though he represents destruction, he is viewed as a positive force (The Destroyer of Evil), since creation follows destruction. Worshippers of Śiva are called Śaivites who consider Śiva the only Ultimate Reality (see Ishta-Deva for fuller discussion).
