Good choice - Sangeet is great. Really nice decor and food, together with friendly staff.

That is really going to panic the Sitar guys - the first time in living memory that a dozen TTers havn't turned up! They are going to think the world is ending.

One thing, is Sangeet prepared for 20 TT'ers as we know can happen! And theres always the Jeremy factor

The place is huge. I'm sure they'll cope.

Yes, and it's better than Sitar's.
(I went to Sangeet last week, instead of going to the TT curry night).

One quick question - Isnt the closest U-Bahn stop Odeonsplatz? According to the reservations page its Lehel?

I don’t think so,
Lehel is literally right around the corner from Sitar.

Correct, except we're talking about Sangeet, which is on Briennerstrasse, just around the corner from Odeonsplatz (U3/4/5).

Never thought the day would come where I would read an Englishman say of a curry house in Germany that it was "a bit too spicy".
Jimbo
Jul 8 2004, 1:02 pm
I'm with Malc - when I went with Foxy and her family 3 of 4 dishes had to be sent back to soften them up a bit (the dishes, not Foxy's family) - incredibly bloody spicy, especially by Munich standards. Great place tho and defo my fave curry house in munich.

I think we only got it extra hot because someone asked for it. When I went last week it was milder.

Were your dishes ordered as is from the menu or did you ask for them to be 'upped' a bit? Just wondering...
I was there last Friday and I asked for my Chicken Jalfrezi to be a bit more spicy and it was great! I must admit that my girlfriends Tikka Chicken Masala was spicer than from other places but was equally as good as my dish.
I agree with others though, a great new restaurant and worth a visit.
Ps. I must come along to a TT Curry night sometime.
Malcolm Spudbury
Jul 8 2004, 1:15 pm
I think most of us ordered "as is", but it's possible that someone asked for it to be hotter and they applied that to *all* the dishes...
Can't complain too much though. The food was still better than at Sitar, which has been getting worse over the last few weeks.
JoolyBooly
Jul 8 2004, 1:18 pm
@ pjoyce you certainly must..
ok, the spice: "selber Schuld", as they say... I asked for it hot and lost weight just eating it! They don't give you serviettes, but sauna towels... guess I'm out of practice...
the curry was good but to honest it was no better than Swagat or Ganga in the Baaderstrasse (which is excellent by the way, their beef, lamb and veggie curries are to die for).
Also my local Bangladeshi back home in Kent does waaaaay better Peshwari naans.
So for me it was nice but I wouldn't rush back.

Perhaps its a bit early to comment but are you guys planning on going to "Sangeet" again next Wednesday (14th) or back to "Sitar"?
One thing to note to all who have not been there yet (and are planning on going late one night after the pub), even though they are open until 6am on Thu-Sat warm food is only served up until midnight (something which is not mentioned on this
link)

I was in the new Taj Mahal (corner Nymphenburgerstr./Landshuter Allee) on Sat and would certainly recommend it. They have a good menu (appears to be run by Punjabis, going by the menu at least), the chicken Dhansak and Methi Gohst was excellent, fair prices (including rice and service), trilingual menu and staff, excellent garlic naan.
They will also cook to order and have proper tablecloths and napkins (I am getting old ha ha).

I've been to
Sangam a couple of times. Asked for it 'Extra Scharf' once...never again, it was painful.
The curries here are pretty good.

yeah, the Thai near the Taj Mahal is superb too
I'm not here next week but maybe we could do an "Indian crawl", trying different ones (and maybe Thai) too?
But I don't want to muscle in on the thread, I know it's been going for years...

Hey guys and gals, enjoyed being with you all last night at Sangeet. I thought the food was better than Sitar. I found Sitar to be a bit oily. I didn't like the papad and the accompanying sauces at Sangeet though.
How about meeting at
Ganga next time? I know the owner there. Rice at Ganga is better than both Sangeet and Sitar. I also tried a few chicken and lamb items and liked em all.

This is something we've talked about doing. Maybe Sitar (or Sangeet if we decide it's better) every other week, and then a different place on the weeks inbetween.

Disappointed with Tandoori chicken at Sitar last night. First of all I don't think it was half chicken as they mentioned. Four tiny pieces of bone with hardly any flesh do not make half-chicken. Secondly, half tandoori chicken MUST be served as half chicken (like the way they give half chicken at beer gardens). Thats the beauty of tandoori -- a beautiful red, complete, un-cut half chicken, dry ouside, juicy inside-- NOT small pieces of chicken completely drowned under wet onions and lettuce -- Trust me, I know my Chicken
Finally taste, oh well, nothing special to write home about.
However, I do like the friendly service there.

This Wednesday I'm flying to Canada, so I won't be able to make it. The Wednesday after I arrive back, jetlagged, and may or may not be going depending on my state.
If anyone else wants to go, I'm afraid you'll have to organise it yourselves (unless Malcolm Spudbury is going?)

are you in Munich? I thought you are in Stockholm...

something makes me feel that you are still not in town

Curry night time is generally 9pm then why so early this time? I have a german class till 9pm and was planning to join you guys after 20 mins...

I am in Stockholm but the point was that it's not a big deal to organise something and more people should Nike (just do it). Ok, 9pm it is, I hadn't looked at previous curry nights.
@keydeck
I like your attitude. Lets see how many people Nike...

any chance we could meet up slightly earlier than the usual 9pm. Bythe time the stragglers arrive, there is not time for eating and especially drinking before time to go home
between 8 and 8:30 would be good, wouldn't it? What do alll think?
Malcolm Spudbury
Jul 26 2004, 1:08 pm
The usual start time of 9pm is only because AquaticMeringue can't get there any earlier. Since he isn't coming this week, feel free to make it at 8pm, or indeed any time you like.
