has anyone actually been to this restaurant recently? I hope it has changed ownership and/or cook since i last went. I realised after looking at the photo on the TT wiki link that i have in fact been there twice before about five years ago. It was the most dire culinary experience i have ever had. The food was bland beyond belief, the meat was disgusting and full of bones and gristle. In fact the dishes we ordered resembled in no way whatsoever "Indian" cuisine.
I hope things have changed since then.

i'll be there a bit late myself... 7:30ish... and owain... it was really really good last night... the two peeps i went with are fam who eat out constantly in gourmet restaurants... they are PICKY... and they loved it... so i'm pretty sure it won't dissapoint tonight. *feeling the pressure of 30 curry-loving-souls breathing down my back* i'll bring my dog for protection if i'm proved wrong

was about to say the same see Izabella's post OG, dunno about the food though the staff seemed pretty friendly.
@topsy good idea will let them know, though they do have nice big canvas on top in the place to keep it covered so maybe a bit of fun
@satman, billybob think we can get more in now booked for 30!

curry in a biertarten, lovely. Not the greatest tasting munich curry but still good. Nice crowd.

Mine was good, but late as usual for me. The rice was excellant and the nan was tops. I realy liked the pepper chips things and two of the three sauces was above par, but the third could have been more spicey.
For the database, I had beef vindaloo, nan and 4 beers. It was a fun evening in the garden under the tents and the rain made it that much more cozy. A very mellow, tasty and fun evening.

The food was not killer spicy, but it was very well spiced. I don't have to die by chilly, I just hate bland.

Last night was my first real TT meetup, and it was fantastic!
Thanks to everyone who made the night so enjoyable, and sorry to those I didn't manage to speak to.
I thought the curry was excellent, even if I did wuss out and only have a Korma!
@UpQuark, info for your database: I had a Chicken Korma, a plain naan, ein helles and a Kingfisher.
I mentioned this briefly to a few people last night, but would anyone be interested in having a Chinese night at some point in the next 5 weeks?
I hope to see you all again sometime soon!

My tandoori mixed grill was suitably meaty (and a wee bit of prawn too), lovely company, big THANK YOU to Kebab Meister for the birthday goodies

, hi to Izabella and the very well behaved Max (the dalmatian) and of course Mr Quark, jam was delivered (not yours Topsy and showem, just to marka) and GOOD LUCK to marka and his wife for their imminent arrival!

Sorry was so late, had to actually work late.
Those are too words I thought I'd never write again in this life.

Was a good crowd! My vindaloo had no potato (becoming a running trend of some Indian restaurants, 'aloo' is supposed to be potato) and although they singled mine out as being extra hot, it wasn't. It was still pretty tasty though so no complaints. Keema naan was nice though! Yum!
Oh... Brian, forgot to give you the slip (er, not literally!). I had Onion Bhajis, Chick Vindaloo, Keema Naan, 6 Dunkles Weissbier, and including tip cost €37.
@Katrina... so how wet did you get?

Pretty good curry but great company. As soon as the scones are baked the jam will be savoured ! Thank you again Katrina, my culinary Goddess !
For the record I had onion bhajis, chicken masala, keema naan and 3 weissbier. Think it came to a little over €29
Great seeing everyone as usual! I thought the curry was nice enough but not amazing (7/10). It was just the right spiciness though. It was interesting having curry in the rain

.
Since we are keeping curry records now I had a Chicken Tikka Masala, Nann Bread and 3 Helles, which cost €24.
@HMS - Chinese would good sometime especially one of the ones Eurovol was talking about, maybe on a Friday or something.

What about Ethiopian? I went to a great restaurant where you eat with your hands. Or what about Thai?
Owain Glyndwr
Jun 30 2005, 9:48 am
tried ethiopian very recently

. It was ok and made a nice change but nothing to rave about.
I usually actually eat with my mouth. not sure how you treehuggers consume your food

edit: btw, if any of you want to go to an alternative type of restaurant, whether it be Chinese, Thai or Ethiopian, i suggest you just post an alternate thread with details of the meet up and restaurant. TT is big enough to have curry and chinese etc for those that want it.

something a bit out of the ordinary would be a change.
isn't ethiopian a little pricey?

Jun 30 2005, 9:54 am
Must admit the Ethiopian on Belgradstrasse, the Blue Nile is quite nice, enjoyed this but am not sure that most of the Ethiopian places I know could handle more than 10 people or so.

Jun 30 2005, 10:17 am
@OG
You're right, this does need to be a separate thread. Ethiopian isn't expensive and the one I know in Tengstr has cheaper drinks, too. It can take about 20, cos I had my bday do there and it was a buffet with practically everything on the menu to choose from (for 10 EURO pp)

So when does the location for next week's curry get decided?
Location sometimes gets decided by the Friday before but no-one has been discussing it yet this week - it's usually always decided by Monday morning.
There's not been much discussion this week so who knows any other good curry places with an outdoor section?
Or we could always got to the
Sitar since we've not been there for ages?
I guess we should decide where we're heading for curry this week.
Any votes (perhaps somewhere else with a Biergarten?)?

Rama in Ismaning has a nice patio with a huge awning that covers the whole thing. It's a great little restaurant, too.

I would suggest a place but I don't know Munich that well neither...

Thought I'd unnecessarily add my name to the list of people who can't make it. I'll be at the opera watching monkeys frolic on stage. Should be back the following Wednesday after a few days in Amsterdam, with a vicious case of the curry munchies.

Just thought I'd share my adventure into curry making, in case anyone is interested in a recipe or two. I tried to make a korma a couple weeks back and made the mistake of grabbing a random recipe off the internet (with a rating of 100%...out of 1 rater.

). It was an edible but incredibly boring plate of colored rice. Sooo, anyhoo, I asked electrobuzz for a recipe, and he passed one on. I just made it last night, and it was scrumptious! So if anybody wants a tasty korma recipe, feel free to PM me. Electrobuzz's mom knows her stuff.

(Btw...I've also got a yummy alu gosht recipe...)
