@roots
I just walked past that restaurant I was telling you about near Adelbertstrasse and Barerstrasse. It's called India Town. Weird name, but you know we have to try *all* the Indian restaurants in Munich at some point.

IPJ, sounds familiar but I have never been there.
Anyway, most likely I need to go to the US sometime next week. I will be missing the next few CNs.

Sarovar was already suggested
last week. No consensus yet though, but I'd be willing to go give it a try.

I'm in, as long as it's not way outside of town, because I am lazy and hate to ride the S-Bahn and because I won't be able to get out until after 8 so I want to get there before 9!

Sarovar is near theresianstr. on the U2. My vote is for that.
Sarovar sounds good to me!

Counting the 2 votes (Kebab Meister and Crawlie) that have been switched to the archive that makes 5 votes for Sarovar so I'm going to set it on the sign-up sheet.
It's my last
curry night till December!

Holy fuck... that was the hottest curry ever! I feel rather uncomfortable at the moment... my mouth was on fire, my stomach still is on fire and my arse is on fire too... not good!!! Eeeep!
Taste 5/10
Heat 100/10

My curry was fairly standard (I hadn't asked for hot) but it was entertaining watching some of the others suffer. Good times.
Pictures to follow (there are now two curry photographers). If you think I took your picture and you don't want it posted online, please let me know.

Well, luckily it's not as bad as last night!!

Seriously even going for a pee was painful!
It truly beat me last night... but the really painful thing was my stomach. It felt like it had acid in it afterwards/walking home!

Mine was very hot but still tasty. Very enjoyable. The veggie selection was, in its "untreated" state, pretty much inedible. Far too hot to even enjoy. Even after diluting the sauces they were still too hot.
However, the restaurant was very good, the service was excellent and I will definitely be going back there again.

I'd go back to that place - It was fun and I thought the curry was nice. Mine was also quite hot even though it was just meant to be medium. Waiters were friendly as well.
Best bit was watching Joe Hot struggling to eat that bowl of acid he ordered
Winegirl
Jun 16 2005, 11:07 am
Mine was way too hot to enjoy. I could tell it had some good flavors underneath but could tell how the food would have rated against my 3 favs (Shiva, Neu Dehli, and Surahi). The place deserves another chance but having the food at a reasonable heat level. Service was good.
My stomach hurt last night even during the night but today I'm fine.

First time I asked for "extra spicy" on a
curry night as couple of the previous ones have been a bit mild. A case of "careful what you wish for" as it was much hotter than I really wanted.
Liked the place and would go back again but I will try the standard menu next time.
I think Jeeves has got the right idea of ordering the same "benchmark dish" the first time your in a restaurant, so you know which ones need spicing up and which don't.

Jun 16 2005, 12:54 pm
holy hell!!!
UNFORTUNATELY i got exaclty what i asked for. wish they hadnt listened to me and winey and MAM when we said we have been to many places and ordered extra hot and have NEVER been satisfied!
GOD! was that hot or what me stomach nearly burnt out! now i know what rockets feel like with their arse on fire
should go there again and THIS time i want it JUST hot!
BUT i did promise u will cry

KM you sure that wasn't the Chilayan red?

Well my benchmark chicken jalfrezi was damned good (though I'm not sure there was any ginger in it). Good taste, just the right hotness that I could still taste the components (and not taste those that weren't there).
I also deliberately asked for neither medium hot nor extra hot but simply hot, and that worked well too.
So I'd say the restaurant gets high marks for service and quality of food (quantity wasn't bad either!)
Did you lot get any more freebies after the mango schnapps? I mean that was good enough, but since I left early this week I was just wondering...
