Right lets try something new here. As of now, and until Christmas I'm doing a dance on Wednesday evenings which means that I miss out on the curry evenings. Not my fault I wanted to do a Monday class but they cancelled it.
Anyway if there are enough interested parties I'm willing to try organising a 'complementary' event on another night ... Mondays and Thursdays suit me best. And, just for Noddy and everyone else who doesn't like curry, I suggest we try a couple of Italian or Chinese restaurants. Right now I'm going to and start a new thread. Comments and restaurant suggestions etc are more than welcome.

Hi, I'm up for experiencing this grand TT tradition and be nice to meet some new people, even if there aren't going to be any baltis. might manage to make it to the pub too.

I could have brought you one back if you'd asked, Brummie. Might have had a bit of trouble getting it through customs, mind.
Can you all tell my two guests I'm sorry, I'm sick? got a cold! They should turn up anyhow though... they're brand new and have no Telekom...

Anyone up for a curry tonight? If Aquatic is away, we can make it 8.30pm instead of the usual 9pm...

Aquatic isn't away, and so far there are 20 people registered to go:

Right, the table is booked for 21 people at 9pm. I thought it might be a problem to get so many in at relatively short notice, but apparently it's OK.
Strangely the guy I spoke to on the phone didn't understand German...

I see Editor Bob has added a "curry history" to the registration page, showing who has attended the previous curry nights.
That will come in quite useful when I write my memoirs...

I notice that Jimbo is bringing Beans along this week - Toytown romance at its best! Hopefully there will be fewer people this time, so that I can actually meet the people at the other end of the table
Malcolm Spudbury
Oct 22 2003, 9:56 am
I asked Editor Bob to limit the number of registrations to 20. I think that's about the most we can cope with before it really starts to get out of hand. If necessary, we can reduce it some more.
Of course, we have to assume that only the people who have registered will turn up...

You should have seen us on Monday, Aquatic. Now that was romance - just Beans and I in a deserted Gunther Murphy's, meeting like, errr...ships in the night.
Would be good to meet you tonight though - only found out who Aquatic was as you walked out the door last week!

Last night's curry was by far the hottest I've had in Germany, and one of the hottest I've ever had in my life (although I think it was the combination of "extra hot english-level" vindaloo with a "thoroughly covered with chillis" chilli nan that really did it). In fact, by the last few mouthfuls I was almost at the limit of my endurance - and my visit to the toilet this morning felt like I was passing razor blades.
Next week I might have to do the unthinkable, and actual ask for it to be not quite as hot!

The guy at the Gewürzmühle was actually kind of surprised that we -almost- all went back there...

Was it as hot as the vindaloo you had at my leaving do that time? I must dig out that picture of you...
As for the hotness of the food at the
Sitar, I had a chilli chicken the other week that was so hot that it was almost impossible to eat. I had to chew the meat without it touching my tongue or the inside of my cheeks. Not an easy task.
And that chilli nan of yours burnt my tongue even after I'd taken the chillis off it...

Guess what, for the first time in nearly half a year I've got the time and modd making it to my favorite restaurant with the TT-community. It's just that I can't find the link to register. Any hint?

One suggestion for the curry night: why not make it at 8pm?
Far be it for me to re-arrange things, but I don't think I'm
the only one who would prefer to eat earlier. In fact if it
was upto me, it would be at 7! Last week I was starving hungry
for at least 2 hours before finally getting some food, and then I
had to stay up until past 1am before the chicken tikka passed through...
well anyway, that's enough whinging from me.

I don't really view it as a problem if some of us come at 8pm - makes it easier for the restaurant staff too.
I personally want to hold hands with Aquatic, so I'm coming at 9pm!

Isn't that a usual thing, a mass signup on wednesday morning?
Brummie
Nov 3 2003, 2:22 pm
ah, just noticed someone's signed up. But you're right sparty - the rush is getting later and later, my personal theory is that the new deadline is encouraging a potentially dangerous form of curry 'chicken' (as opposed to a normal chicken curry) whereby the first one to blink (i.e. sign up) loses - this needs to be resisted otherwise the logical conclusion of a mass scramble to sign up at 5 seconds to 5 on a wednesday might lead to some people missing out. concerning, i think you'll agree.

Having forgotten to turn off the computer before I went to dinner, I thought I give a short analysis of the evening.
To sum it up, the answer to many mysteries.
* I found out why Aquatic Meringue hasn't been his usual posting self lately.
* I had one of those "Oh, you're Show'Em" moments and vice versa with NoGo.
* I found out which of my friends has been secretly a member of the board without me being aware of it.
* I found several nice people from different parts of the western hemisphere who could hold a conversation.
Good food and better company. Nice meeting you all.

I'm not a curry expert Pootle, that's why I left off that bit. But if you want:
As I said, the food was good. I had lamb and it wasn't super tender, but definitely not chewing rubber, just average. The sauce was very tasty and as I had a mild dish (always start on the safe side at a new curry house) the heat was fine. Having tried the pappadoms hot sauce, it had an interesting flavour with a coming at the end type burn, rather than a first taste burn. I doubt I could have handled a whole meal of that heat though. I'm a mere Canadian after all and wasn't weaned on tabasco sauce or vindaloo. The portions were generous, but I thought for a table of 10 people, they could have brought more rice to start with. No little hot plates to keep your food warm, but I find those just take up too much room anyways. Ah, when I paid my bill, I didn't get one of those little mango schnapps or whatever they are either.
No starters, desserts and simple
Weissbier to drink, so no report on those. I would say it's worth visiting for the food though, never mind the company.

No razor blades this morning - it was relatively mild (but still as tasty as always). I'm still mentally recovering from that "extra hot" vindaloo with chilli nan bread. I think I'll ask for it a bit hotter next time though.

Thanks Hazzaa for the reset as to which day is

Wont be able to make this week, off to watch the footy tonight. I think I will be at next weeks as I fly to the UK on the Thursday morning, so a good hot chilli chicken and chilli nan should make the trip worthwhile!
