Curry night - every Wednesday evening in Munich

MAM Well last week I arrived dually with Andrew, and I was not, have never been and most certainly never wish to become entangled in any way with him. He even needed lessons in entanglement from Winegirl for goodness' sake.

Right the reservations page has maxed out at 30. I'll call at 18:00 and see if I can reserve for 35.

People who haven't managed to reserve could they post here in between the football, curry physics, and menu discussions.

Ok the reservations limit has been upped to 40. We will now have the mother of all curry nights, and hopefully the mother of all curries.

Jeez this restaurant doesn't know what's going to hit it. I'd better get down there and warn them over a beer or two...

I've only done 32 slips... so anymore people will have to bring their own paper.

Edit: and just as I say that Eric comes along to prove me wrong. meeting at the restaurant itself. So after the drinks we can just carry on lolling around where we are and have a few more drinks. Or whatever.

Ok I've reserved. I told him up to 35, he was a bit reluctant to make a U, suggesting two or three separate tables instead.

Apparently an Indian, two white guys, and a girl!!! are there already. We know who the Indian and one of the white guys is.

@Twirlie. Better than that, there'll be a smell cam in the toilet. I'm only giving the live curry update because the waiter rang me confused that some of the group had arrived so early. I'm not really that sad.

I'm sitting here at home, having just spent 12 minutes getting through curry posts, waiting for Greg to get home so we can head off for curry. I hope you won't have finished off all the rice before we get there...

well how did it go kids?

Last pre-curry post, first post-curry post.

Food was good, nearly all those who wanted it hot got what they asked for. Merriment ensued, seeing these people start to hiccup, sweat, go from flushed to pale.

39 people, all served within 25 minutes of each other. I don't think this was necessarily a good strategy by the restaurant, but as I was the last to arrive, I had the shortest wait time (although 2 hours was a bit long to wait). The waiter had infinite patience with us.

It was nice to meet so many new people: Livia, Mary, Simon, Bug (sorry, I don't remember your real name). Good to see newbies out in full force.

Sound bite of the night from my end of the table:

Andrew: "I think I just take it in my mouth and hold it there a while".

It was nice to meet all of you that I was able to, and I hope to meet the rest of you soon at another event. Thanks for being so nice to a newbie!

Take it from me. One of the very best curry nights we ever had. More details tomorrow perhaps. Great to meet quite a few newbies. Need to hit the sack.

A little mouse told me that you were still waiting for main course 2 hours after getting there...

I think I can start to taste it now.. as the nerves in my mouth slowly repair themselves... Its when the nerves in my stomach and bowels come back to life, thats what I am scared of.

@Grinner. Yep thats right. Was a big group and took a while to get our mains, but we didnt actually order until we had been there for an hour anyway so it wasnt too bad. I possibly should have ordered a bit earlier in order to get home earlier and have more sleep but in the end it just means more time sitting around talking drinking and having a good time. I dont think the idea is to get there eat and leave as quickly as possible anyway.

It did work out quite well. Considering the fact that the resteraunt was packed and there were only 2 waiters they did an incredible job keeping things moving. The food was not as hot as last time, but all us curry machos (including winegirl) agreed that was a good thing.

There was a table nearby with about 12 woman and 1 man, and not one of us had the guts to go and discuss our mutual love of curry and other things. What a load of wimps.

At the end there was Euro 20 left unpaid, but as it was divided between four of us it wasn't that painful but its still really sad that it happens. Funnily enough the collector said there were two main courses outstanding but Rana (the young sharp waiter) said that he had brought those back because nobody claimed them. So it was 2 helles, 3 radler, and a mint pratha that ended up as the excess.

I'm betting there will be no issues with unpaid bills next week. Glad you guys had a good time. Now my anticipation of next week can start.
