@Jeeves
You're a very wise man!
I can't remember what their onion bhajis were like there?
Jeeves
May 6 2005, 9:33 am
They were the ones that MadAxeMurderer got them to make specially for us
Friday
May 6 2005, 9:59 am
well I am going to order a chicken vindaloo english hot and be damned to my digestive system
Jeeves
May 6 2005, 10:00 am
Ah but you might well end up with a simple masala
Friday
May 6 2005, 10:01 am
which to be honest might not be the worst thing in the world

May 6 2005, 11:36 am
You guys gone to
Maharani yet? We actually ordered take-out for delivery (which they don't even really do) for 4 people last night. They even made a special trip to deliver as they felt sorry for the poor sod who was going to collect it on his bike (Tom). Not sure they would do that for everyone...but you can order take-out to be picked up.
The food was really good...and it was ordered 'English-style hot' (which actually makes me laugh) and it certainly was hot. Tom had a Madras which blew his socks off (he did manage to eat all of it though

)
The tandoori chicken I ordered was very nice...tender...and still have some left for lunch today

There was not much said about it on the review pages so wanted to add our .02.

The chicken masala (sp?) I had was also fantastic. After three bites I could only feel the very back of my tongue it was so hot. Tom17 and I were so excited to have it so spicy we nearly wept with joy.
They have Penfolds on their wine list too.

Isn't there a Maharani on the corner of Auenstrasse and Kapuzinerstrasse? I think that's the name. I recommend we have a CN on a Monday sometime, because funnily enough they have a 'Ladies Night' on Mondays. For each pair of women that go there on a Monday and order two main dishes, one is free. So that means 1/2 price meals for women on Mondays (sorry guys). I actually went in and asked about this.

May 6 2005, 11:46 am
curry on
Monday??? are you MAD?
Jeeves
May 6 2005, 11:51 am
Some people eat it for breakfast
Doesn't matter whether it's a Monday or not then...
Why not have a CN on a Monday. It doesn't need to be an either/or situation either.
Or?

I was kidding. Was that not clear?

I'd be up for a Monday curry after the end of the quiz season at
The Arc.
Specially if it's half price for girlies - yay!

Completely clear

Anybody suggesting that IPJ is mad MUST be kidding

I go to Quiz nights so I am up for curry afterwards. Perhaps something fast like sher-e-punjab? haven't been to the one on Loopaldstrasse but the one in Isartor is fast-food with great curry for 5-6 euros.

May 6 2005, 12:12 pm
Sorry I missed the Ladies Night thingy so forget my Sher-e-punjab suggestion.

I have leftovers for lunch waiting for me. mmmmmmm

Anyway, roots, the quiz doesn't finish until 11pm, so it's a bit late for a curry. For me, at least.
But the quiz night will probably take a summer break, these things usually do, sadly - demand-driven: people stop going because they'd rather be outside in the sun. Can't understand it, myself, but there you go.
roots
May 6 2005, 12:23 pm
True topsy. Curry after 11 PM is late.
Then we should do curry take-out and eat during the quiz at
The Arc just to piss off Hazza and the staff

Thanks for all the sympathies for me having to get up so early yesterday and sorry for not posting earlier too... I did need to catch up on some sleep today

Getting up wasnt actually that bad...staying awake was a whole different issue...
Really enjoyed Wed though...food was excellent and so was Bondi afterwards...except that sauna feeling in there

Thanks for a great night out!

I had a phone call from a prospective conversation partner last night. She seems quite nice. I am wondering though if I have made a mistake suggesting that she comes along to the the
curry night on Torturehot Wednesday, what kind of an impression will she get do you think?
I have to do the early shift on Thursday, and I will therefore not be able to go to Bondi's afterwards. I am sorry to anyone who is disappointed that I will not bee able to sing for them.

The reservation page now has restaurant name field. Nice.
Looks like all our previous curry meetings happened at a restaurant by name "???"
Friday
May 7 2005, 2:17 pm
and the names of the previous restaurant visited have gone from the archive

May 8 2005, 9:53 am
Hi Mods
the automatic archiving seems to have gone slightly awry in that the last post on the archive thread is from 20th April and there have been a couple of restaurants visited since then.
Fair enough to cut out the chat but there was some useful info in there.

I agree Jeeves.
So, from memory...
Wednesday 11 May 2005:
SurahiHohenzollernplatz
Schwabing
Tel. 089 / 31 56 81 37
Plus, IPJ would like to go to the Tandoori the week after so...?
Wednesday 18 May 2005:
TandooriKlenzestr. 89
Isarvorstadt
Tel: 089 20205234
Maybe the week after we can go back to the
Sitar since the regular
curry night hasn't been there for awhile. Then maybe we can go back to trying new places again!

(PS mods, I took the time to insert the hyperlinks in which you normally, and kindly, do)

the last post on the archive thread linked in the first post on this page is from yesterday... dunno which one you guys are looking at.
anyway, can't make this week, but I hope to be back to try out the famous Tandoori

Archive works for me now too

(first time for a week)
As Andrew says in the archive, neat that there is now a field for entering the restaurant. Time will tell how practical that is.
Also a drop-down for setting the time although
QUOTE
only regular attendees may set the time & location
I wonder how that will work. Good if it does!
Edit:
I have just set the restaurant for Wednesday night. I had to reserve at the same time to do it.
The odd thing is that now all the previous curry nights seem to have been attended by the following people:

Kebab Meister
May 8 2005, 3:44 pm
Hey Carm
Curry night virgins are certainly allowed!

The Surahi is perhaps the hottest Indian restaurant in Münich so if you don't like hot/spicy food then make sure you order something mild; we'll help recommend something if you're unfamiliar with dishes!

Just got back from the Tandoori! Much better than last time plus got free glass of wine, free dessert, and two free schnaps (for both my guest and I). I've had two vindaloos there now so time for something different there next time!

Also, for the record I experimentally set the time to 7:00 to see if I could as a "curry regular". That is not the official time, so other "regulars" can change it if need be.

If a restaurant name and time is already fixed I don't see the point in each person picking those again at the time of registration. It just shows the name of the restaurant picked by the last person registered. I just picked Noor Jehan to test it and then changed it back to Surahi. I don't know, seems like it is gonna add more confusion.

On the other hand, since curry nights often have some 30+ people, this feature potentially offers the future facility of splitting the event, i.e. having 2 (or more)
curry night events on the same day at different restaurants, possibly also at different times.

Oli, could you eleborate?
I mean it's a neat feature and all but I'm not sure how it could help here.
oli2000
May 9 2005, 8:22 am
Well, if I understand the feature correctly, people can select the time and restaurant when signing up – so you could have e.g. 2 groups signing up for their time/restaurant of choice. The respective time/restaurant for each group should, however, additionally be displayed in the sign-up table, or simply have 2 sign-up tables displayed for the respective time/restaurant.
Jeeves
May 9 2005, 8:37 am
Yeah that would mean adding another dimension to the table. Or whatever.
Anyway, 9 peeps have already signed up for this week. And it's only Monday morning! Could it be the cold damp weather?

They are perfectly capable of cooking normal so don't be scared off

Good idea MAM, especially as it's a nook-and-cranny type of restaurant.
While you're at it you could drop a hint on those onion bhajis as well...
