I thought the slips- though initially laughed at- actually worked fairly well. The waiters see you writing things down so they know you're keeping track. It makes them less tempted to bring stuff which wasn't ordered.
DK, is it really necessary to instruct waiters not to bring things which aren't ordered? I mean, I've never been in a restaurant and had something put in front of me which I didn't ask for. "Gosh, another bowl of soup? Well, I wasn't going to ask for more, but as long as it's here..." I think this is a case where the waiters aren't doing a very good job of keeping track of what gets ordered and again, the paper slips can help here. Then again, there was only time I was in a situation where there was a controversy over the bill at the end of an evening and I think Topsy really did have those 6 extra helles.
Also, if we collect the slips at the end of the evening, I can begin to construct my Munich Curry Database (patent pending).

@Upquark
I only mentioned it, cause YES IT DOES HAPPEN...
How many time have you been to CN, where they keep bringing stuff
out like Nanbread,Papadums or Yogurt (For Example), which NOBODY
Requested, only to have them try to "Stick it on your Bill"... This happend to me 3-4 in 3 differnet places, all 3 time I refused to pay, and I will continue to do so...

I dont understand why all these things are happening only in the last few weeks. I have been to many curry nights and I don't recall any such incident in the past. I really don't know if there is a perfect solution. Everybody has to pay their bill honestly. It is the waiter's job to keep track of who is ordering what. How he does that is not our problem. Even if it means he has to run a separate tab for everyone then so be it.

@ roots - I dunno, either. This kind of stuff never happened in our day, did it?

Just FYI:
I don't go to EVERY CN, So the events I mentioned didn't like all happen in the last month... The last CN I went to was up near Holzernplatz, don't rember the name of the place.. They tried to stick me with 2 x papadums, before that it was New Delhi (Old New Delhi), where they tried to stick me for NanBread, I had one (And paid for it) but they tried to stick me with 2 orders..
You may not be aware of it, it may not happen to you, but it does happen. Watch your bills like hawks..

@DK
That was the Surahi. It wasn't really their fault since we ordered Poppadoms for everyone (what normally happens at CN). However, there was a misunderstanding because they were supposed to be free and then they stuck it on our bill at the end. So a few of us paid for the Poppadoms. I didn't mind paying because it was great company but I do know where you're coming from. We just wanted Poppadoms ready for when everyone arrived.

This week we are going to Tandoori (branch of New Delhi)
Tandoori
Klenzestrasse 89
Time: 7:30 PM Wednesday
U1/U2 FraunhoferstrasseWhen you come out of U-bahn, walk in the direction of Commerzbank on the corner of Klenzestrasse. Continue until you cross one street. Klenzestrasse continues but it is not a straight connection so cross the street diagonally a few meters before you find the street again. Tandoori is on the left side.

@roots and all: I was in Tandoori last night too with one friend, and I totally agree, it was Excellent. I don't know what's the occasion (maybe they just opened), so we were served one white glass of white wine each, gratis!
After the excellent naan bread, rice, mutton curry and chicken tandoori, the guy (must be Ram also) asked if we were from TT. I think he was very happy that you guys booked for 30 to 35 on Wednesday, coz we got another free mango-schnapps each.
Have not tried the original New Delhi (or any other Indian restaurants in Munich yet), but I'm happy to recommend Tandoori to anyone who loves curry.
Note:
1) 30 to 35 folks would take up maybe 75% of the place already
2) The spices were really good, but if you like things hot, you really got to ask for it. I forgot to ask for extra hot, so it was good, but I'll definitely ask for extra hot next time...
3) paid €17 (incld tips) each for the said meal above plus one spezi
Have a nice time, guyz. Too bad I have Deutsch classes every Wednesday night, so I'll be doing personal Curry excursions on other nights...

I'll make it this week because I REALLY want to try the food. But I have to leave early to get to GM's for the Liverpool v. Chelsea game. Anyone is welcome to join me along to GM's.

@Winegirl - I'm gonna insist on there being a

Tandoori - 27 April
Shiva - 4 May
Surahi - 11 May
Perhaps after then we can go back to the Tandoori?

I didn't book for 30-35 people yet. I was discussing organizing other special events and told him we could expect 30-35 people or more for special events.
For wednesday I said we could be 20 people. There is a separate room for upto 20 in the back we could take over. If there are more than 20 we could sit in the main room which I actually prefer.

@KB, yep that was the schedule for the coming weeks.
Don't mean to start a major debate or fight but would anyone be interested in starting at 7pm this week rather than 7:30? Many of us arrive early anyways so is it a big deal to push the start time up just for this week?
Im always a fan of earlier times, by the time everyone orders, eats and pays, and I catch the train home its well after midnight before I am in bed.

That was a pretty good night. Food was really good and great company. Couple of things arrived bit late but thats because some people arrived late and ordered late. Considering that we had almost 30 people it was not a bad effort. They could have definitely used an extra hand though.

Yeah, that flying fish was the cats meow. (Puppies nether regions for you Brits).
Company awesome, food awesome, sevice swamped! They did their best and they tried everywhich way but loose to make up for it. In my book, that shows some class. And did I mention that the food was great!
On their behalf, they did offer to do an evening affair special for us. Several dishes non stop fixed price. Sounds good to me!

They attempted to serve everyone at the same time which I give them full credit for (although it didn't quite work - always going to be difficult trying to serve such a large crowd). I was very pleased with the service anyway, although a few did have to wait a long time for stuff.
Not quite as good/tasty as Neu Delhi but still very enjoyable, and the company as always first class. Definitely going back there, friendliest service out!
So, BadDoggie, which is it? Chelsea Clinton or Nancy Reagan?
