Strange. I got a phone call from them on my way home saying stuff was unpaid. Very bizarre.
Hey I dont know where to put this...I wanted to give another shout out to Neu Dehli. Toronto and I ordered in some days back, at Rootsies' suggestion we ordered a Balti and a Chicken Manchurian. Neither where on the delivery menu. It was spicy good stuff.

I'd tell them where to go. Sounds dodgy to me. If there was stuff unpaid, they should have said last night before you left.
Yeah food was quite good actually - better than last week. Hot enough to start Winegirl crying anyway
As we were getting close to the end the guy thought that certain items hadn't been paid for (mainly drinks). Not everyone was using the slips last night so maybe people's estimates of how much they had to drink were not quite correct.
Last week when everyone all used the slips, we didn't have any problems. Having said that I think 1 or 2 things on the billl were not paid for because we didn't get them like the extra yoghurt etc.
Everyone was leaving straight after paying their own bill so maybe it would be better for people to hang around until the whole bill is settled before leaving, to work out any differences.
Hmmm...

Crawlie, I wouldn't bother going back. Like I said I was the last to pay and I was around for few more minutes and he said nothing. It seemed everything was settled. Something is not right.

Yeah. It sounds slightly dodgy. I was actually a bit suspicious last night when I asked for the bill, which he printed off and then disappeared with it for ages.. I will probably go back and have a look at it but will refuse to pay. I think I know where they are trying to sting us as well..

As Jeremy said...
The service was worthy of Royalty.
The owner must have thought that I was his long lost brother, by the way he greeted us..
Food was FAB...the place is well presented and there is a room at the back, just big enough for 20 TTers to sit comfortably..
NEXT WEEK..

I thought I actually paid after you (he missed me out for some reason when he went round the table the first time) so that's why he started mentioning to me that he thought things hadn't been paid, but everyone had left by then.

The guy was complaining about a lousy piddlee yogurt?
Those who came to New Delhi last Sunday with me remember the fee papads, schapps, dessert, chai and a full bottle of Whisky (chevas regal) he put in front of us? Same thing happens whenever I go to the places I know. Ok, I dont expect everybody to do the same but there are certain things all Indian restaurants are supposed to do.

I really enjoyed the food last night, all three vegetarian dishes. They could have been hotter, and not caused me to collapse, but they were fine and spicy, and very very tasty.
I think this is one to come back to. It was their first time seeing us, and they need some training, but we get the best curries in places where they know somebody in the group, who helps them understand we want really tasty food.
The deserts were there for the birthday win girl, and its unfortunately they didn't get all the way around the table, but not the resteraunt's fault. Complimentary papads arrived soon after we arrived, but were not repeated, and its true there was no schnapps, but I'd rather good food and no schnapps, then crap food and schnapps.

@Crawlie
It does sound bizarre about the bill. If you do decide to go back and pay then I'll go halves on whatever is remaining, unless we can sort out who didn't pay for what.
@Grinner
Glad the new Neu Delhi was good, there was some talk last night to try and go there either next week or the week after. Although the Neu Delhi is my favourite I'm still on the look out for other good Indian restaurants!!

I don't think I'll be satisfied until I've tried them all just in case there is somewhere better than Neu Delhi!
Surahi - several expressed a desire to go back there because it's good food and very, very hot and spicy (chilli challenge mk2?). The 11 May was mentioned, anyone have problems with that?

And, as Jeremy and Grinner have had their say it's time for mine.
The New Neu Deli was really well presented, completely fitted out with brand new furniture, fittings, and the decoration was really nice. They have obviously spent a lot of money on it and it looks like it.
We all had a meaty Thali for 3, which all tasted wonderful although not that hot.. although we did ask for medium. Then our mate there brought in a special which was absolutely lovely. With 3 free drinks each, free onion rings while we waited to see if anyone else was coming, loads of popadoms and the friendliest service in Munich, I'd say you'll all agree it is a fantastic place to go for a curry in Munich.

We can always go more than once. It's not like it isn't going to become a regular restaurant on our list.
Food last night was okay. Could have been hotter but much better than last 2 weeks. The food was more fire hot than flavorful though. Although the staff was a little rough with handling a large group, the waiter was really friendly. The stuff that made me cry was the straight red chili sauce. That didn't have much flavor though just fire heat.
The deserts were really tasty. Unlike the past to restaurants (Ganga and Goa) I would put this one on the possible return list. I think they deserve another shot.
(at least if the stuff with the bill gets worked out)
And thanks all for making my birthday curry super fun!!! (and filling me to the point of absolute silliness with wine

Anyways, Ram is the nicest guy and he takes such good care. I promised him that we are taking the TTers there next week. He said the cook is good and he could do something special like a Goat Biryani or something special.
Btw Roots, I heard the food is pretty good at Nektar as well

San Pellegrino - 2.00 Euros
Keema Nan - 3.00 Euros
That joghurt - 2.80 Euros

I am not too worried about things like the yoghurt. And the whole bill is not that large. So we can sort it all out at the next
curry night.

Well I drink Dunkel Weißbier only. I had two keema nan and paid for two. I think there was some confusion on that because both Andrew and I had two each but they lost one of my keema nans. I think someone else had it but I'm not sure if they ordered it or not. I think the waiter was making a right mess of the ordering!

Apr 22 2005, 1:16 pm
Great, sounds like they screwed up and charged us for a bunch of stuff that was already paid for. If everyone throws in 1€ then will have it covered and no one had to pay much extra.
Yeah the slips arent really a solution...
Hey if the last guy to pay is always so keen on paying for extra stuff, no wonder the waiter manages to find extra stuff to charge for.
separate bills people and only pay for what you personally ordered, or is there some legal requirement that the last one in the group has to pay for any discrepancies? I sure as hell wouldnt, waiters problem not mine..
I bet the waiters would be responsible and make sure everyone paid for what they ordered if they KNEW the last sucker wouldnt cover everything..
Kebab Meister
Apr 22 2005, 1:29 pm
Another idea is that don't pay a tip but give it as a 'cover anything unpaid' and if there isn't anything unpaid then keep it as a tip. I usually give €3 tip, well, I did on Wednesday.
Crawlie
Apr 22 2005, 1:29 pm
Yeah well. The two phone calls I received and the ones I would have got until I popped in were a good enough reason to go in and discuss. Not quite sure what else I could have done really. But then there is always someone who knows better I suppose.
These things happen. Without everybody being present and proving exactly what they paid for, it makes it difficult to argue the toss. At the end of the day the general consensus was that it was a good curry and we would like to go back at some point.
Yeah I didn't have any of the things on the list but I'll contribute towards it anyway so Crawlie doesn't end up paying for it.
I think it's a good idea to keep the tip money until everyone has paid and then if he says there's unpaid stuff that no-one recognises then give him the tip money to pay for that and no tip for the waiter, otherwise he gets his tip.

Just got back from Tandoori after a sumptuous dinner with my lady. I tell ya, my search for the best Indian restaurant in Munich is over--not just for food but also for exceptional service. The guy (Ram) treats me like a king and he said "I don't want you to come here to eat because you can eat anywhere. I want you to come here to enjoy and leave satisfied". Can't ask for more.

@Winegirl
If THEY screwed up why should we have to pay for it???
Going back to what I have posted already...
Tell the waiter NOT TO BRING ANYTHING to the table unless it was asked for,
then make sure whoever ordered it, gets it added to THEIR bill...
The paper slips can work, but it will require a bit of work...
Everybody get separate bills, if the waiter forget to add something to someones
bill, Tough Shit... Don't call us the next day and request more $$$, when it was
THEIR waiter who screwed up...
