I was very happy with my korma. Funny, it was the first korma I've had that I would call "spicy" (though def not hot - a korma couldn't be). Nice food, nice company, all around good time. Great to meet so many people I haven't met before!!! smile.gif
Kings Town
Me never complains about me Biriyanis... wherever i 'av 'em they are perfick.

The Onion Bhaji Burgers were pretty nice too.

First time i ever went to 2 curry nights in one night, Sitar was also nice and mellow...

Why are you following me around?!
ski
Well I thought my Chicken Tikka Masala was nice and just the right level of spiciness.

Good that we got the nann breads etc. free.

They seemed to like rationing their rice though.
arshoo
yeah the curry was a bit of a disappointment and when one can have just the green chillis in a place without breaking into a sweat, there is def something wrong with the spices, like KM said though, free naan and all was cool smile.gif

I agree 100%, had the same and it was yummy.

OK, so the rice waiter was a spastic (not that I have anything against spastics, before you start!) and it took forever to get fed, but as KM said, I think they waited to serve us all together.

So THANKS to the munchkins who turned up AN HOUR LATE!!!
As we got free naan biggrin.gif

For anyone who stupidly went for the bhaji and was full to bursting like me... I have a new tip... walk home! I walked for almost an hour, and slept like a baby! Great night cool.gif
Winegirl
Curry sucked. I asked for extra hot because I was really in a mood for some heat. Well the only think hot was Arshoo sitting next to me wink.gif

Seriously I sent it back because extra hot came out mild and bland and it came back mildly hot. The waiter was surprised and said he just doesn't know how they could make it hotter. WTF? You're an indian and you don't know how to make curry hot? So he brought us "fresh" green chillies which Arshoo and I ate straight. That's just wrong. If it was flavorful but not hot that would have been fine but it was bland and mild. It was mediocur curry at normal prices plus the veggie selection was under impressive.

Won't go back, won't give second try. know to many other good places now.

I was accused last night, and have thought long and deep about it. Its going to make me feel better getting it out in the open.

I have an obession with onion Bhajis

Does anybody else what to come out and admit the truth.

BTW agree with Whinegirl. The vegie selection was poor. And I said English very spicy. Ah English spicy? No English very spicy.

I also sent it back, and it was barely changed. And yes he was at a loss as to how he could make it hotter. Adding raw green chillies spiced it up, but its not the same. The chillies are supposed to be cooked in.
JoolyBooly
no way, you mean you were sitting somewhere else?!? Cheeky!

I vote for Ganga some time, their vegetarian jafrezi is actually more enjoyable than a meat dish, I was gobsmacked biggrin.gif
Kebab Meister
@JB

Ganga, Ganga my friends (okay, poor attempt at Gatanga... remember that?)

As I've mentioned many times, I'm all for trying new places! There may be some others as nice as the Sitar and Neu Delhi but if you don't try, you won't find!

I'll go along with Ganga if others are interested?

@MAM wink.gif

Yes, those Bhajis were simply delicious!!! I could eat one right now!
JoolyBooly
mind you, the curry night has been there before... but it is an old classic, like Swagat
Kebab Meister
@JB

I've never been there... the Indian restaurant list is soooo long but it's going to be good fun trying them all out! smile.gif
Winegirl
I wasn't at the Ganga night either so that's 3 votes. Let's just set it for there.
arshoo
i have just been told by me colleagues about it also so there are now 4 votes for this now...

roots
I am surprized some didnt like Goa. Goa is a fantastic curry place. Been thre many times and was never disappointed.
MadAxeMurderer
I've never been impressed wit the Ganaga

@roots You were very dubious about the Surahi; I was dissapointed with the Goa. I really think it depends on how you are known.

If you are not known it doesn't matter how much you beg them to do it properly, they will be wary that you really want it German style.
roots
@MAM
Well, it is impossible to impress everybody in any curry house esp when the group is big. We all have different tastes.

I am currently working on my new invention called curry tastometer. Stick it in your mouth for 1 second and it tells you exactly how you like your curry with a special code. Soon all you need to say is "One Chicken Korma with x2rm9 please". The cook knows exactly what it means. wink.gif
Winegirl
Being a flavor chemist I could help you with that Roots. Sounds like a great idea to me!
Yeti
But Roots you'll need to check out the other end as well to set the long term effects of your choice of curry and whether you can hack it.

Both devices to be clearly marked to prevent mixing them up.

You can of course borrow the name "Afterburnometer".
MadAxeMurderer
Well I was talking about the only group that really matters. People who like a real curry.

You missed my point roots. If we had had you along last night the food would probably have been way better. If I had not been with the Surahi group the food would probably have been much worse.

If they recognise you, and know that that have to do it properly to impress you and your group then it will be better. Now your flavo meter could do away it all the uncertainty but until we have it, we have to rely on advance scouts charting the curry hinterland, and liasing with friendly waiters to ensure optimum performance.
JoolyBooly
to be fair, we had Arshoo there last night and he did a great job... and got served shit food for his efforts...
Winegirl
Yeah Arshoo was speaking indian to the guys. and the guys said after the second attempt they DIDN'T know how they could make it hotter. It was mild and bland.
MadAxeMurderer
Yes Arshoo spoke the lingo but is he known it the Goa like roots is?

However I relish the chance to blame him. Arshoo its all your fault for our lousy curry. You're in trouble mate.

I would have been there if I wasn't busy last couple of weeks doing this wink.gif

I know what you mean though. Well I will be back in town next week and look forward to having some good curry with yall. smile.gif
Grinner
As long as you use the Taste-ometer first... laugh.gif and dont get your used ones mixed with new ones...

There were no complaints from Our curry night. .

G
arshoo
good lord after the free papadoms and all!!! ohmy.gif and the naan free cuz he told me that the food was brought in late... well the fact is that whatever might be the case with all the others when i told him i want me food like we eat at home even I GOT BLAND food and i was not speaking hindi it was real rural PUNJABI... the language the waiter grew up with mad.gif
MadAxeMurderer
You have been found guilty of curry ordering incompetence.

Don't plead the free papadams, and naan bread bullshit, and frankly we can't tell the difference between Hindi, Punjabi, Apache, or Cherokee

Burn Arshoo!!! Lets hang the bastard first.
jeremy
Hang on.

I wanted to go last night but wasn't sure who was going where. Did we have a "Judean Peoples Front" type splinter group meeting elsewhere?

How many were in Sitar in Lehel?
JoolyBooly
I think just Grinner and JE, but I suspect Arshoo will be joining them next week!
Johnny English
4 in the Sitar but made for good service and of course was "boys" talk so not very PC at stages. I can only do 9pm curry 'cos it is after rugby training for me.

Jeremy - you remind me of the anti-Exocet guns we had on some of the boats in the Falklands. When faced with 2 incoming missiles rather than shoot one the system got confused and just shut down.
Grinner
@ Jeremy... It was the Popular Jedeans people front... laugh.gif

JE.. Grins French Bloke, and Aquatic M... followed by a deserter... KT wink.gif

I will not be about next week as I will in the same picture as Roots...

G
JoolyBooly
what, with or without bikini?
Grinner
Ho Ho Ho...

I am more worried about Greenpeace trying to push me back into the sea each time I get out...

G
Katrina
Is it Ganga this week?
Or no decision yet?
Winegirl
Ganga is this week.
ski
OK, Ganga it is then - are we going for 7.30pm (I'll try not to turn up an hour late this time wink.gif )?
JoolyBooly
I don't mind you being late if we get free naan! As long as they don't wait for you before serving us happy.gif
interplanetjanet
Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to make it this week. Hopefully next week, though. Have a great time!
Topsy
I'm in! Can't wait, it's been ages since I've had a decent curry smile.gif
Crawlie
I may actually join you guys for this one. I have a strong craving for a curry this week!
arshoo
i am obviously in... and dont ask me do the lingo for freebies tongue.gif
Kebab Meister
Just posted a few pics from the Goa, last weeks Curry Night.

If you are going to Ganga, please say hello to Paul the owner and Anna the slovakian waitress. smile.gif
arshoo

crispybee
OK so I've put my name on the list.
My first curry night, I know where to go, but what time?
Kebab Meister
@crispybee

Start time is usually 7:30pm though some get there early (usually me!) and some get there late! I like to go early and ensure the tables are sorted and have an early drink! smile.gif
alala
Okay, I bagged last week because I was feeling ill, but I really will be there this time. No, really. Um, how do I get there?
