Cool, see you there. You should recognise me - we've met before...

Wish I could come for drinks and curry. Unfortunately I am still at the stage of kissing ass and impressing new bosses so a late night during the week is not such a hot idea. Plus, went out last night and had a later than planned evening so desperately need early one tonight. Should hopefully make it next week.

OK, so for the curry tonight we have:
Me and +1
Aquatic and +1 (not French Bloke)
Koala
Mad Axe Murderer
If anyone else wants to come, reply here before 3pm. I'll call the restaurant at 3pm-ish to book the table. We probably don't need to make a reservation, but it's best to make sure.
No reservations for the pre-curry drinks. I'll just try to grab a table outside at around 8pm. It's usually a bit tight, so first-come first-seated.

Thanks Malc,
see you about eightish!
Petal,
There's nothing to stop you dropping in at Gewürzmühle for a quick drink between 8 and 9, is there? Or does that count as a late night?

So, who's joining me for a curry tommorrow?
Malcolm Spudbury
Sep 2 2003, 1:50 pm
I'll be there, and may be bringing a couple of others too. Will most likely be at the Gewürzmühle for pre-curry drinks at 8pm-ish.
As usual, I'll give the restaurant a call at around 4pm tomorrow, so anyone who wants to be sure of getting a seat should reply here before then...
I'll roll along. However this time I want my curry milder!
Had no tummy problems from last time, despite the heat. Goes to show they prepare them properly...

I'm up for a curry tomorrow. Who's going and where/when do we meet?
Tom.
Malcolm Spudbury
Sep 2 2003, 5:33 pm
Pre-curry drinks at 8pm at Gewürzmühle.
Curry at 9pm at
Sitar.
See the maps earlier in the thread for directions.

Is it too late to Book?
AquaticMeringue
Sep 3 2003, 4:29 pm
Probably, but just turn up - they'll squeeze an extra person on the table. It's only really a problem when 20 people appear without a booking.
Malcolm Spudbury
Sep 3 2003, 5:25 pm
Bugger. If only I'd logged on to TT before phoning to make the reservation when I got home...
Never mind. As Aquatic said, we can usually squeeze an extra one in. The table is booked for 8 people.

The curry was unusually mild, but very tasty. The waiters were not the usual ones though, so they didn't know what we were expecting.

Didn't make it this week. Was hold up in a friend's flat and had a mangificent Thai red curry takeaway. New place close to the
Nordbad if anyone likes Thai/Vietnamese.
Was very impressed with
Sitar last week. The curry I ordered was really tasty, and the one I didn't order was creamy and not at all spicy. It tasted very bland, but when my mouth was screaming with chilli burn suddenly the bland one was soothing and tasty. It was also a good move by the waiter after making a mistake.
Getting to know the waiters is also best. They are quite used to people coming in and demanding really hot curry and then complaining its unedible. Germans don't have a taste for really spicy food.

Probably a bit early to be asking but will there be
curry night next Wednesday ?
And if so, is it okay for a newbie to come along ?
Cheers

Gen turned up! Punches to order, so it seems...
The currys were rubbish. Mine tasted more like oily gravy,.
However - thanks to Gen and Sonya for feeding the animal.

Sep 5 2003, 12:50 pm
I wouldn't say the curry was "rubbish", just mild. And it's your fault, for complaining about how hot it was last time, you Badewannenwassermehrfachbenutzer.

I was there last night (+1 didn't want to try something new) and the Chilli Chicken was devine! I asked for it English Sharf and it was just right. I must be getting used to it now. I gave the Incredible Eating Hog a portion of it and he was hating life for the next few hours though.

Is there a
curry night this wednesday ?
Sitar or has the "Best Curry in Munich" discussion sparked a desire to try somewhere new ?
BTW Natraj on Nymphenburger Str was good and you can download a gutschien for an awesome mango lassie and plain nan to go with your meal.
http://www.bonuscardsweb.de/bonuscard_deta...&bezirk=1&bc=81Even got papadoms and dips !

Sep 8 2003, 2:19 pm
Yes, curry is on again as usual - 9pm at the
Sitar. The new guy should hopefully have learned his lesson after last time (imagine that - serving a curry that even NoGo found mild!).
If the old man's there again I'll order a Jalfrezi or Chilli Chicken. At least they were OK even in the "milder" days.

so for a newcomer like me is there some sort of secret handshake i need to know ? or is the Toytown table pretty obvious ?
AquaticMeringue
Sep 8 2003, 3:46 pm
Should be fairly obvious. Here's a pic of me from the Toytown party though:

Whats the tikka masala like ?

Sep 8 2003, 3:50 pm
Wont be able to make this week, so I am going to make myself an extra spicy chilli to compensate!! It also means I will be eating chilli for the next 4 days.
Definitiely put me down for next weeks curry.

I'll be coming this week. So I need just one seat.
As in - "my other half's not coming".
Not as in - "my diet's worked".
It hasn't.

The Tikka Massala is actually very good, although I always need something spicy to sate my curry cravings.

Hey! And I'm The Cap'n!
"Some men are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any man that stands between them and the mantle of power. You never met a man you couldn't eviscerate. Not that mindless violence is the only avenue open to you - but why take an avenue when you have complete freeway access? You are the definitive Man of Action. You are James Bond in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. Your swash was buckled long ago and you have never been so sure of anything in your life as in your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off their head if they show any sign of taking you on or backing down. You cannot be saddled with tedious underlings, but if one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not."

I'd like to go tonight. I'm about 90% sure that I'll be there, so could whoever's bookin count me in? It'll be my first ever
curry night (with you lot, anyway). I went once, but left before actually getting to the restaurant
Malcolm Spudbury
Sep 10 2003, 1:39 pm
Right, so far we have:
Me +1
Aquatic +1
French Bloke
Karambos
SparkaHck
Marka
Hazza (maybe)
That makes 8, or 9 if Hazza turns up. I'll give the restaurant a call to book the table when I get home - that will probably be around 5pm-ish. This time I'll double-check on here to see if there are any more wanting to come along in the meantime.
Reply here if you're going for the pre-curry drinks. I'm not going to go on my own...

There's generally a fairly balanced male/female ratio, but not always.
And you almost met me at the party, too. Malc the spud dragged me halfway across the room, saying "quick, it's important". Then when we'd finally fought our way through the crowd, and I'd worked out why he wanted me to come over, you were completely focused on trying to get into some guys pants. You didn't even pause to say hi!
