no-one will argue with you about Kashmir. It is probably the worst restaurant of any type in Munich.

QUOTE (Winegirl @ Feb 16 2005, 12:30 PM)
Had a fabulous curry last night (first night in London).  I had veggie madras.  THe nan was better than anything I've had in Munich.  Just the right spice to my dish.  Great start.
*

Which one did you go to? District? Which part of London are you staying?
Grinner
Sorry for later on, chaps..

I am having an Edelstof or 2 before I head into the Sitar.. smile.gif

Usually a recipe for a Rib Tickler of a night...

Once again... sory for later laugh.gif
Owain Glyndwr
has anyone booked for this evening yet?

edit: just booked a table myself, so if anyone ele has already boooked we have more space than we need laugh.gif
roots
Looks like owl is the only girl. Yall better be nice to her smile.gif
Grinner
I have already appologised already... laugh.gif

Food in Munich in general, apart from the Bavarian specialities, is possibly the worst I've had. Period

@ Butterbean.. weren't you thinking about moving to London?! ohmy.gif
sumac
When/Where is the next night out? After all those rave reports, I can't wait to eat!
Owain Glyndwr
next one will be wednesay since the curry night happens every wednesday. Start time is usually 7:30pm, although soemtimes we start later. Place is yet to be decided, usually gets nailed down on the monday.
electrobuzz
the owner of Kashmir is an engineer by training (he told me that)... may be that explains why the quality is not upto the mark..
roots
What kid of engineer? may be that will give a better insight into his psychotic mind?
laugh.gif
Ravski
I had a curry after the England Wales Game with a few TTers. It was a Pakistani place not far from The Arc. Cannot remeber what it was called but I thought that the food was OK. There was about 10 of us. smile.gif

Can we go there at some stage.

Has anyone else been more regularly.

Deeba
Showem
Deeba is the name, I think Pootle commented on it soon after.

It's nice, the service is friendly, even when half the group was cross-eyed drunk and one dressed up like a Sumo wrestler and all of us arriving late without a reservation. Food is pretty good too, if you ask me.
Ravski
Can we have a slot for Deeba at some stage smile.gif
Jeeves
Yes we not only arrived late we also left much later (obviously) and also much drunker (equally obviously). The other guests were long gone by then. And STILL they were friendly smile.gif
Topsy
they are always really nice in deeba
i hope you guys don't go there next week, cos i can't make it next week...
Ravski
I dont mind the week after at Deeba. smile.gif
Ravski
Guys, there is also a place called Himalaya. I have only tried this place once but I know that the Indian contingency from my company even order their lunch from there. Anyone tried it. Its next door to a brazilan bar.

Its next to Munchen Friehiet S bahn. Pretty Central.

I know I am suggesting several new places but I wanted a slight change from New Delhi and Sitar which are both very good. smile.gif The rest is up to you all. smile.gif
Owain Glyndwr
Himalaya sounds good for next week, then Deeba deeba dooo the week after.

Howzat?

edit: been to Deeba on a number of occasions. top service, good food (not the best but is certainly "up there") and they do know how to make a hot curry, you just have to really push them to do it, cos the ydon't believe you when you say really hot.
roots
You people are making me munich-sick sad.gif
32D
Hi folks, I think I will make it too., this week.
Ravski
@Roots - we will let you know what it was like. By the way when are you back.
Winegirl
just went to the same place again last night. I wanted to try a new place but it was rather late and this place is about a 5 min walk from where I'm staying. Forgot to notice what the name of the place was but I'm staying right by the underground station Rotherhithe.

Last night had the Chicken Vindaloo. THe first time I've actually ordered an indian dish with meat! It was really great, almost too hot for me, burned the mouth of all my friends eating with me. biggrin.gif

this either means everyone around you was eating your dish...or they were all kissing you blink.gif
MadAxeMurderer
I've been once to the Himalaya, and had the second blandest curry ever. Blandest of course came from the despicable and now deceased Namaskar.
Ravski
I spoke to the indians at the company and they always tell the Owner to make the food more authentic than usual.

I went one time and I also thought the food was okISH. But it could have been better.

I will speak to the owner and highlight peoples comments to ensure that this does not happen. I hope this helps.

Let me know if this is a potential resturant you all want to try. smile.gif I dont mind either way. smile.gif
Winegirl
So where are you guys heading this week?

BTW the name of the place I went is Mogul, but it's a pretty small out of the way place. We're going next week to some famous street with tons of indian restaurants. I can't remember the name of the area, but our friends tell us all the places have guys standing out in front trying to entice the people into their joint.

Can I request Neu Dehli for the first Wed. in March? I know it's a bit in advance but it's the first Wed (March 2nd, I think). I'm back.
Jeeves
Himalaya was suggested for this week. Any objections, apart from MadAxeMurderer's?
MadAxeMurderer
Ignore my objection, as I'm not coming anyway. Just wanted to spread my wisdom, winge, whatever. I'd also be interested to know if I was unlucky or if it really does cook shite.
Ravski
Its worth a bash, then at least its a another off the list like Kashmir. But at least you will see some banta. smile.gif
Jeeves
Okey dokey right:

Himalaya

Occamstr. 4
Schwabing

7:30 on Wednesday evening.
Ravski
I cannot make it due to a work event in the last minute. sad.gif And no, I am not cancellating so that I go to Erics event. But I will definately make the next one at Deeba next week.
JoolyBooly
had a great time last week, but having had the New Delhi experience on Sunday I'm going to take the Hamster birthday bowling option this time cool.gif
Ravski
I have managed to acquire the second most hottest spice in the world from Mexico and I hope we would like to see who is the real Curry king of Toytown. biggrin.gif

We can try this dish after eating our normal meal.

I heard that the UK are the best curry eaters. Is there anyone to prove them wrong.

Health Warning that Came with the Spice:

Please use extreme caution with anything on this page. Each item uses concentrated pepper extract, and is hotter than any sauce could be using peppers alone. Keep away from children and pets.

Review from a curry fan

QUOTE
Just like the ones you put on pizza, except the flakes are made of habanero peppers, and they're laced with pepper extract. The heat of the World's Hottest Chile combined with a super hot pepper extract make an unbelievably hot but tasty spice. Be careful with the The Hottest Spice in the Universe
.

The event could be called:
Toytown Curry will make you Go in a Hurry

If you have a better event title or flyer...

Place: Deeba
Date: 2nd March
Time: Not sure

Some Comments from people who had this spice:

QUOTE
This stuff is pure E.V.I.L.! This isn't the kind of crushed red pepper you dump all over your pizza, use caution. This stuff is a must have for anyone who enjoys a good ass kick'n.

A few beers can be arranged for the contestents for free and a trophy for the winner. biggrin.gif
Jeeves
So what exactly is the deal, Ravski?
"normal" curry, few beers, and then a spoonful of this stuff to make the wheels go round?
And who wins? (s)he who eats the most?
SUB
Have just signed up. See you there tomorrow night.
roots
Once again, I am Munich-sick but I have Jenna Bush to take care of sad.gif
Ravski
Never done this before: I think we should enjoy the meal then get the spicy stuff out at the end. smile.gif. Any suggestions on how we handle the event. I can get three dishes made at different levels of spicyness.
Ravski
I have just realised that the second leg of the footy match is next wednesday. smile.gif
Topsy
what footie match?
the champs' league return legs are not next week, they are the week after...
Ravski
Opps...I must stay off the milk... huh.gif
Ravski
We could make this interesting and break the people/groups into

- Munich Area e.g. Neuhausen
- Country
- Sex

What would be the consensus
Topsy
You'll have to see who signs up first, then you can work out how to split it. If folk are keen, that is.
This is next week, not tomorrow, right?
Ravski
@Topsy, Yes, thats right. Its next week.

Good point. I am pretty crap at organising something, especially if people are not interested. I should have asked if people are interested before posting such a post. smile.gif
Nicky
Sent you a pm, Ravski. How about a hot curry night one Saturday? I would love one. I mean a curry, as well as a Saturday.
Owain Glyndwr
will this be a twosome between you and Ravski or can anyone join in?
edwin
I'm game for anything spicy... I've been rather disappointed with the so called 'spicy' dishes at the Thai and Indian joints in Munich. Even when I ask them to make it extra-hot, its always so mild.

Anybody wanna try my Szechuan dried chilli chicken?? tongue.gif
Ravski
